Benadryl Verification

Since you only gave her 1.75mls the last time and it had no effect i'd bump it up a little. You can go slow and bump it up a little until you get to the max dose and if it doesn't work by then you're better off not going any higher. try giving her 2mls next time, then 2.5, then 3. you want to go with the lowest working dose.

Also just wanted to mention that there are these shirts/wraps for dog anxiety. I bought the Thundershirt | The Best Solution for Dog Anxiety for Morgan because she's scared of thunderstorms, fire crackers, loud noises, etc... She's doing really well with it. Every friday night the nearby college has a baseball game in the spring/summer and they set off fire works afterwards. The past few fridays i didn't have to put the shirt on her. I saw those shirts while searching through eBay a few weeks ago. The funny thing is that my baby is completely fine with thunderstorms and fireworks. We're having a lot of thunderstorms right now and she sleeps right through them. Usually if it's a loud clap of thunder she'll wake up and immediately go back to sleep. Same thing with fireworks. They set off fireworks practically every other night over here. The only thing that really gets her nervous is the airplane and really really long car trips. When my family and I traveled to Southern California (a 5 hour car ride) during the early morning, she did fine. But on the way back she wouldn't sit still. I really hope the Benadryl does help to settle her down a bit. I'm going to try increasing the dosage slowly to see what works or her. Thank you again for your help.

These types of shirts can be used for many types of anxiety. travel, separation, thunderstorms, crate training, barking, excessive excitability, etc... Thundershirt | Travel Anxiety sometimes one method is not enough. maybe the benadryl alone doesn't work, but pair it with the shirt and you might have success.

another example could be for noise/crate/separation anxiety. Pair the shirt with a calming dog CD to drown out other noises or to make the dog feel like they are not alone.

That sounds like it might work. The problem is that since I'm in Mexico right now and my flight is at the end of this month, I won't get it in time. It took 2 months last time for me to get a book that was sent from the U.S. I'm going to try the Benadryl again...I just gave her another higher dose and I'm also going to try playing the sounds that you hear in an airplane in increasing volume over the next 3 weeks. A little desensitization. Hopefully that helps. I'll look into the thunder shirts while I'm in the U.S. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks. I have played the sounds on the speaker on my iPod and then on my laptop for 2 days and then I played the sounds with speakers at a higher level. So far so good. I hope that keeping her up late the night before, waking her up early the day of the flight, the Benadryl and desensitization all work.
