| Eye discharge this morning I saw a clearish, whitish discharge that coated the corner of Ellie'e eye this morning. It had a mucousy consistency and it was only in her right eye. She just went to the vet yesterday and got her 2nd round of booster shots. Is this just normal eye boogers or is it a sign of something worse? She has an ear (yeast) infection right now that I'm treating with tresaderm. I'm so worried that all these little problems might be a sign of a bigger problem but overall she seems to be in good health. Everyone says she is an incredibly hyper dog and she is a great puppy. I would really appreciate someone's advice on what this may be. Thanks!! |

| My boys will have clear eye goobers when they have hair stuck in their eyes. Examine your pup's eye in bright light to see if there is any hair or foreign matter. When I find hair, I either carefully pull the hair away without touching the eye, or I wash with a wet cotton ball and then dry to prevent yeast growth. Never touch the eye. If something is floating around and irritating the eye, flush with sterile saline. If the goobers persist, check in with your vet again. You can always call the office and ask for advice. |

| I *HIGHLY* recommend taking her to the vet and let them check her out. Eyes are something you just can't be too careful with. |

I noticed that the hair on her right side was a lot longer and poking into her eye so i went ahead and trimmed it. There doesn't seem to be anymore discharge so I will wait and see what happens. Thanks for your response.

You can find this at any store that sells eye drops. I use a product that says Eye Wash right on the label.

| Just checking in on Ellie. Did you get some eye wash? Is her eye better? |

If the hair is coming from elsewhere, I very carefully run my fingers along the edges of the eye, sometimes slightly pulling back the upper or lower lid to pull the hair out (this is for hair that is still attached at the follicle; my boys have long hair so it is easier to see). Do this only if you have steady hands and your pup is cooperative. Do not touch the eye. If the hair is just a loose piece floating in the eye, flush with sterile saline which, as Maddie's Mommy wrote, can be purchased anywhere eye drops are sold -- drugstores, the market.
