First clean the tear duct area at the inner corner of the eye as you would for normal eye gunk. Sometimes the hair will come out that way. I gently swab with a wet cotton ball and sometimes use a tiny flea comb (very carefully! don't dig into the duct)

If the hair is coming from elsewhere, I very carefully run my fingers along the edges of the eye, sometimes slightly pulling back the upper or lower lid to pull the hair out (this is for hair that is still attached at the follicle; my boys have long hair so it is easier to see). Do this only if you have steady hands and your pup is cooperative. Do not touch the eye.

If the hair is just a loose piece floating in the eye, flush with sterile saline which, as Maddie's Mommy wrote, can be purchased anywhere eye drops are sold -- drugstores, the market.
She is all better! I just ran my fingers around the corner of her eye to pull the hairs back from her eye and the hair came right out. I think it was still attached to the follicle b/c I saw a slimy hair against her fur when I pulled the hair around her eye back. I will definitely be more vigilant about trimming the hairs around her eyes even though she dislikes the scissors. I never thought that would ever be a problem. Thanks for checking in on her!
