It always worries me, when someone doesn't update. All kinds of horrible thoughts go through my head.

Although I think a lot of times people seek out places such as this in a time of crisis and the forget about it once everything is okay because they are not used to posting regularly... I really hope that is the case here and that this baby is all better!

Well it would be about the time for her next heat if we go by her post about this before in August. So if she was actually in heat in August I wouldn't think it was pyometra because it's to long after the last heat cycle. Or I guess she could have had a silent heat 2 months ago, and then yeah it then could be pyometra.

She said it smelled fishy right? Pyometra doesn't smell like that as far as I know, but infected anal glands sure does....

Hopefully she took her to the vet..I pray she did. It does sound like she has been having silent heats though. Definitely should be spayed even if it is not pyometra.

True, but she has posted here before so hopefully she will update us.

This was her post, nothing about August

A few weeks ago she was in heat then cause that is when i noticed it the swelling and etc,. Tonight she was in her cage and she threw up redish stuff,. then she got out of her cage and went to go under the couch,.. and there was a lot of blood in globs husband says it smelled fishy.. but again it look like alot of blood not sure if she threw it up or where it came from any suggestions??

The fact that she made the above statement, sent up warning signals to me.

A girl can have closed Pyometritis and have it suddenly burst. And based on what she described above, is what had happened. I've had girls have an infection in their reproductive organs and they emit a fishy smell.

I see where you found she was in heat last August. Her post states a few weeks ago.

But, it appears we won't get answer as she doesn't post frequently and most of the time when she just needs a question answered

I didn't know about the Aug heat. But it wouldn't have mattered, still doesn't IMO.

Leaks of blood and any natsy odors are indicative to the infection. IMO puss may not be visible if blood is present b/c it's harder for some to separate them apart if they're mixed.

I totally missed the part about her being in heat a few weeks ago.. I am getting to many threads mixed up which isn't helping me.

I did have a dog recently with closed pyometra and there was no smell at all, as you can see I wasn't sure what the smell would be but from what i had read about it I never saw anything about there being a fishy smell. That is why I said that. I didn't say there was for sure no smell.. I know pus and infections can smell pretty horrid!

I don't think she will be back though.. Would really love to know how the dog is though...sigh..

Yeah I see that her post NOW says she went in a few weeks ago. I swear I saw her say the dog never has bled before so she never knew when she was in heat.. So that is why I looked up her postings and found that other one from August.. I knew I had seen it before..

Well in the context that I was writing, it indeed did matter. Pus is a mixture of blood (plasma) and can look to some like just blood but a lighter color.
