Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Puppy molars broken...need advice Izzy started to have really bad breath about 2 weeks ago.. I have started brushing her teeth. Well when I brushed her back molars I saw that she has a tooth that is broken...It look like part of her puppy tooth but I can see the adult tooth has moved in..But that broken tooth is still there and does not seem to be loose at all... She will not eat any dry kibble but I have been giving her really good canned food. I can tell she is in pain. My vet can not get her in till friday. i'm not sure what i should do...any advice would be great. Thanks rebecca and izzy

| If it were me, I'd call another vet! Especially since she's in pain and it's only Monday. I wouldn't want to risk an infection. See if there's someone else who can see her now or tomorrow. Poor pup!

| Oh, poor baby! The adult tooth most likely broke the baby tooth as it came in. Retained baby teeth are such a problem in toy breeds. How old is she? Has your vet examined her mouth recently? Retained baby teeth can damage to the adult tooth and even cause infection. Chinaroad Lowchens of Australia - all about retained deciduous canine teeth Retained baby teeth are usually removed during the spay to avoid a second anesthesia, but if she's had bad breath for two weeks, she may need a separate surgery. |

| Man...I would definitely try to get into another vet if possible! If not, I don't think it's a life or death thing, and I would think she might need antibiotics either way, but the sooner the better, as the pain thing can't be fun for the little one. I know you can use benadryl for dogs with allergies. What about infant tylenol for pain? I'm NOT saying to do it - I have no idea if it is healthy or deadly to do - just something I don't know about, but it came to mind. I will try to do some research to find out

| ok...did some research. do NOT do the tylenol thing! It is toxic to dogs, per every site I read anything about giving tylenol to yorkies. I did read in multiple places that buffered aspirin is ok as long as your yorkie doesn't have any clotting disorders or anything, but I couldn't find a dosage...sorry, I tried to help...
