| Won't eat dry kibble help! I’m having a great deal of trouble getting my 8 month old Tiger to eat his dry kibble. I have tried so many different brands and I thought he liked Fromm Whitefish and Potatoes, it worked for a couple of days and now he’s not eating it. He loves Merrick wet dog food, Venison Holiday Stew which is chucks of meat and veggies. But I was told that he really needs to eat dry kibble because it’s good for his teeth. I have also tried the dry Merrick Kibble that you add water to and it turns into gravy but he won’t go for that either. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get my little guy to eat his dry kibble! |

| I really don't have any suggestion on the kibble. I don't believe it's great for their teeth either. I think the nutrients in the food choice is what's good for the teeth, not just because it's a dry food that crunches (that's my Vets choice of words) I home cook and believe in homecooking because I KNOW what's in the meal Cerise eats, but if I had to purchase a prepared dog food it would probably be something he likes, like the stew or something simular that was very healthy. He can chew on Bully sticks and treats too.

| Put it down and leave it for 15 minutes. Pick it up and do not give him anything else. After a few times of that, he will eat. Might sound harsh, but it works.

I know exactly how you feel. I also went through many brands trying to find one for Bella that I didn't have to add something to. I however did spoil her in the meantime. The above poster is right in that they will eventually eat it when they get hungry. I just recently found something that Bella seemed to like. Here's the thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ted-about.html You can also ask for samples to try: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...e-samples.html Good Luck! Hope you find one that yr adorable little Tiger will be thrilled about!

| Add a bit of warm water to the kibble. That's what I did, and Sydney ate it. My parents tried it with their Yorkie and it worked for them, too. As posted above, dry kibble being good for cleaning teeth is not true. There are dental chews especially for teeth cleaning. |

| From what I understand about dog diets, when you give a dog wet food, they become very picky eaters. |

I have switched back and forth with no issues. In my opinion, dogs become picky eaters because their owners make them that way. They refuse one meal and the owners get worried and try to find something they will like. Then, it just keeps on going ..and going...and going. Children become picky that way as well. If you put food down and they refuse it...and you don't give them something else....they will eat the next time!

| Sydney's vet said the same thing, LadyJane. And you are so right. He said that she will eat when she's hungry. If she doesn't eat, I just leave the food dish out for her. She comes around eventually. It saves money, too, because I'm not switching food. The warm water does help just for the fact it makes them curious about their food, but I don't switch brands.
