| Found HARD THING in Nature's Variety Raw Lamb Formula. Any similar experience with NV raw? Sadie has been throwing up lately which we attributed to her anti-inflammatory meds for her leg sprain, but in the puke we've noticed some hard white things and weren't sure what they were...well tonight...Mike found something in her medallion that was hard, gray and white colored and about the size of a quarter in diameter. It looked like a rock to me. We are worried and wondered if we should change her food again to something better? Anyone else having any issues with hard things in their raw food from Nature's Variety?? Thanks |

| Since you said it was white, do you think that maybe it was just bone that was not fully ground up? Or.. could it be denaturant? Here is a thread that discusses the denaturant that is in NV raw: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...enaturant.html

| I've never noticed anything like that but I would definitely guess it was a piece of not fully ground bone.

| Ewww... Do you have a picture? I have noticed little hairs and white small bits in the NV hard kibble but I just figure "it is dog food after all"

i've tried and tried to find a food that is just right and fresh and clean and human grade. i'm going to be switching again, any suggestions as to a better raw diet company that makes sure their meats are safe and human grade and that their bone meal is ground into powder and not into pellets?? | |

| Primal uses human-grade meat, and I would definitely trust it for my babies. I have given Bravo and would also give Stella and Chewy's.

| That's the whole premise behind the lawsuit right now against Wellness... From the complaint: “Defendants have been knowingly and systematically defrauding hundreds of thousands of California consumers by marketing their dry pet food products by falsely representing that the products: (1) contain no animal by-products; (2) are “human grade”; (3) “are the same quality you would feed to your own family.” These claims are manifestly false and misleading.” Is there really a right for a pet food company to say "human grade"... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-9-3-09-a.html To clarify what I meant above...I just expect that my dogs food is going to have ground bone in it and such (listed on the label). It does not shock me to see little hairs or something. I have see it in every dog kibble I hav ever bought and I have tried all the high end brands. I want the best for my pups. Look at our chicken in the stores. There is always a missed feather in the roaster chickens or skin on chicken parts. I expect to see the same in my pet's food. Not good but it is how it is.

| Someone in the meetup group we attend had an issue with chunks of bone not being ground finely enough for her chihuahuas to digest in the Nature's Variety frozen raw. She contacted Nature's Variety, but she did not really receive a satisfactory response and warned all of the members of our group what had happened. I originally started my girls out on premade raw with NV, but we have since switched to Primal Raw and Stella & Chewy's. I feel much better with these two brands.
