| My new baby won't eat! Hi everyone. I just got another Yorkie puppy today and she will not eat. I brought her around noon and so far I have boiled a chicken breast for her and gave her some Nutrical but she won't eat anything else. She was supposedly on Science Diet and that is what Tucker is on and she won't eat it. All she has wanted to do since I brought her home is sleep. Tucker never did this so I am not sure what to do. I took her to the vet today after I got her and he said that she is fine and that she will just take some time to adjust. Tucker fit in the first day so I wasn't expecting this. Also, she snaps and bites Tucker when he tries to play with her. She was alright at the breeders house but when we got home it's like she completely changed.. Any suggestions? She is 8 wks and Tucker is 11.5 wks.. |

| First congratulations on your new baby! I think she is just taking some time to adjust. Her and Tucker will be ok but they need to establish some things first. When I brought Hallie home, Simon was soooooo mad but they warmed up to each other. And they are both such little puppies they couls just be playing a little rough. I bet they are cuties! I would keep giving her nutrical and not worry right now! She will start eating soon, she is probably just settling in first. Is she drinking water? Do they have their own bowls? Do you have pictures? Keep us posted! |

| I am sorry you are having a finicky eater right now. It sounds like she is just trying to adjust to her new surroundings and is a bit overwhelmed/stress. Maybe she needs some quiet time away from your other fur baby? Id continue to offer her Nutrical to keep her sugar levels accurate. Baby food works wonders also, cheese, plain rice, boiled chicken livers, etc. Keep trying different foods. I think honestly she might just need some quiet time. Keep us posted.

| She does have her own bowls but I haven't seen her drink very much water. I have seperated them for the night. I am letting her sleep in his crate tonight until I get her her own tomorrow. I will have to put him a bed in the laundry room for the night. I don't know why I was thinking that they could sleep together to bond quicker..They are almost the same size right now but Tucker is older. They are so cute but I really hope that they bond pretty soon. Macey will not even come to me and if I go towards her to pick her up she either runs or ducks like and abused child. She just follows me around and sits there beside me if I do not move but if I lean down to touch her she is gone. Do I give her space and let her adjust or do I hold her alot and love her? Here is a picture if Tucker, but my camera needs to charge before I can take pictures of her. |

| Have you looked at her teeth? The breeder may have been grinding her Science Diet and putting warm water on it and letting it sit for a bit before feeding her. You can also top it off with a bit of chicken baby food for enticement. Good luck.

| I heard that Cheese/Dairy Products are not good for Yorkies because they cant digest dairy very well. Is this correct?

| I don't think you should feed milk but I think cheese, is OK. I know that cottage cheese is recommended and I have fed Rowdy LOTS of cottage cheese.

| When we brought Pudgy home he wouldnt eat or drink either. Its a hard transition for a little one so it may take a little time. I gave him cottage cheese which he started to like and put a little bit of 7up in his water to make sure he stayed hydrated. let us know how she is doing.

| My puppy was threw up 5 times on the long drive home from the breeders. She was also very quiet and would not eat when we got home. I called my breeder and she told me to give her a small amount of karo syrup. I put it on my finger and put it in her mouth. She also suggested to give her steamed shredded chicken breast mixed with small curd cottage cheese. The karo syrup kicked in and she did eat a bit of the chicken/cottage cheese mixture. I was happy with anything! It took her a few days to adjust to her new home and now she's very spunky - and the boss! Good luck and congratulations on your new baby!

| Congrats on your new addition. This is a big day for your little one!!! I think 8 weeks is a little young to leave the nest, but.... She really should have a chance to get to know her surroundings smell and see everything, then introduce the other pup. Don't be afraid to get on the floor. We are very big to them and we have to get to their level sometimes to earn trust from them. I imagine she is scared to death, she has left her comfort zone. Have patience and introduce her slowly to things... Her snapping is coming from fear... Every puppy has their own personalities and this is her way... If you haven't already try to hand feed her. Do this on the floor with her. Don't over feed the nutrical, you can give her diarrhea and that can dehydrate her more. I always keep pedialyte on hand. Also changing her diet can cause the same effect in the small ones. I seen her picture and she is a real doll. I know you want the best for her...and it can be a little scary, but she will come around....
