| It's official: Bilateral Grade 1.5/2 LP So, I just got my suspicions confirmed. She said if it could be 1.5 it probably would be. I have had Mya on Cosequin for about a week when I first felt a pop and they told me Rejuvenate is better so I just bought that from them. I am trying not to freak out as she is only 1 and a half years old and has already had Legg-Perthes surgery about a year ago on her hip. Does anyone have experience with Grade 2 Luxating Patella with no need for surgery?? And if you did need surgery how long did it take to get worse enough to need it? Ugh I just need reassurance that my baby won't have to be put through surgery again...anytime soon at least

| If Mya is only Grade 2 and it doesn't get any worse, she shouldn't need surgery. Make sure she doesn't jump on and off furniture and keep her on a good joint supplement. Here is a great article on LP's: Medial Luxating Patella |

| It's up to you but I wouldn't have the surgery at a grade 2 especially if there isnt any pain or limping involved. I have 3 yorkies with a grade 3 in at least one of their knees and never had surgery and I don't intend for any of them to have surgery unless I see pain and limping and to be in major discomfort. As long as I have their weight and jumping under control they are doing just fine with good supplements I elect not to have the surgery. I hope this helps. Donna Bird |

| Mine has grade 1 LP right now. I started her on Dasuquin and try to prevent her from jumping a lot, I cant prevent it all the time. So far we havent had any issues and the specialist I saw does not seem to think she will need surgery, at least in the near future. |

| All of that did make me feel better. I know surgery isn't really an option unless they are at grade 3...I am just hoping it doesn't get worse. She is in no pain or discomfort and there is no limping. The vet said activity is actually good and will help build up the muscles and help the joints so to not try and limit her activity except for super high jumps...

| Buster is grade 4 in both legs. However, he gets around really good. He hardly carries either leg. He goes for walks almost every day. He does jump off of furniture if I can't get to him. I think he knows his limits. My vet is against doing surgery until his quality of life is affected. For now, his quality of life is still good. He does take supplements for the LP.
