| Thanks for everyones responses. Her heart is perfectly normal. We had an ultrasound done on it from a cardiology specialist to rule out reverse PDA. When the vet checks her heart with a stethascope, there is no murmur. The sound that you heard is only that bad if she has something in her mouth. When shes lying down or eating food the sound is very minor. She did get the intranasal kennel cough back in June or July of 2009. This problem didnt start until November. The next step is an inhaler. If that doesnt work we will need to check her larynx and see if she may have larygeal paralysis. Aside from asthma or larygeal paralysis, the only other thing I can think of is perhaps some sort of an allergy that is closing her airway alittle bit. As long as her gums and tongue are pink I know shes getting enough oxygen. But Im just worried about the long term effects. |

| Just an update for everyone. We started Flovent and will see how it does after a week. The vet is now suspecting that she may have everted laryngeal saccules with asthma on top of that. Next step is to put a scope in her throat and check out everything to see how it looks. |

| Has your vet checked inside her nose and her nasal passages to make sure there are no blockages or tumors? When I had Peanut at the vet to be neutered they had a male Beagle mix there that had a tumor in his nasal passage and they were removing it so they let me watch the surgery. The vet said it was blocking his normal breathing and they had to remove it so he could breathe through his nose again. To me it sounds like the noise is coming from the back of her throat like it's dry from open mouth breathing. Could it be possible that she has something blocking her nasal passages so she can't breath through her nose and she is drying out her throat from breathing that way? Also, we took Boog to a new vet a few years ago and before I could ask 'what's that?' she put that intranasal kennel cough stuff in his nose...he had all kinds of breathing issues after that. I won't allow any of my dogs to get that now...and I never went back to that vet! Good luck...I hope you find the answer for your girl soon so she will feel better.
