| carrots? I see everyone talking about giving their yorkies carrots as treats. I am just wondering do you give them raw or like boiled? How big of pieces?

| My dogs love carrots. In fact the vet recommended it to my dad for his dogs instead of the regular treats. He called them "diet" treats...lol They are good for them.

| My girls love the raw baby carrots to eat. They just dance around whenever I get them out (I like them too). I usually only let them have one each and they will chew them up and eat them without any problems. Someone told me when I started doing this that the carrot would help clean their teeth as they chew it up. Teresa |

| We've been feeding ours the frozen mix with both carrots and peas. I like that the carrots are in small cubes and I don't have worry about them choking. We cook a small amount and keep it in the fridge for a snack or to add to their food. Gracie is a picky eater and turns her nose up at plain kibble but she will eat it if I add the peas and carrots to it. As for broccoli, I have read that it may be toxic to dogs. My understanding is they would have to ingest certain levels for it to become a problem.

| Baby carrots This is a reply to the post from Teresamag about "Baby Carrots". I read somewhere; I'm not sure if it was on this Forum or somewhere else on the internet that baby carrots are not really young carrots; they are cutoffs from regular carrots and made into their shape. The scary part of the article was that they mentioned that they are soaked in Chlorine quite extensively. Maybe someone else also saw this or knows more about it. |

| Hi Ming, thanks for letting me know. I knew the carrots were just shaped that way. I saw a cooking show about it once, but I'm not sure about them being soaked in anything. I'll have to check it out but if it's safe for people to eat surely it's safe for our babies. Teresa |

About the chlorine, I think someone post here so i did some research on it. It look like small doses are usually ok. It's like swallowing some water in the pool. But yes it can be harmful if you eat a lot of them for a long period of time. It shouldn't be a DAILY SNACK but a few times a week is harmless. Always on the safe side, I now buy regular carrots. I peel and cut a few and put them in water. They are good for a few day and you can use the water to cook or give it to the dog to get the vitamins that got lost in the water. | |

| Carrots Okay what I did now was put in "baby carrots chlorine" in Yahoo; if you find it read snopes.com and urban legend .com and use your own judgement. |

| I use regular carrots. All 3 of my dogs love carrots and pieces of apple as a treat. As well as watermelon in the summer. Green beans too! |
