Plastic for food or water dish?

There was an article on plastic not too long ago. A dog was experiencing siezures. Tests were performed on the dog and nothing found. For some reason the owner changed from plastic to Stainless Steel.....siezures stopped.

I use water bottles for mine....less bacteria, no wet beards and the water stays cleaner.

Mary, what kind of water bottles do you use/recommend? Any suggestions on where I could buy them?

I got tired of the whole dog dish thing.
The plastic ones got stained up.
Her plastic kibble dispenser held the same and I didn't feel like it ever got clean.
The stainless steel...I didnt' like the rubber ring and the inside of the dish had a water line, I guess. I just did not like it at all.
And the ceramic ones we so cute, but they chipped a little bit and after awhile, they had the weirdest smell to them that even bleach didn't get rid of. So they went in the trash too.

My ceramic dishes are getting a little chipped, too. I haven't noticed a smell to them yet, though. I never really thought about buying them their own set of Pyrex...but I just saw someplace was having a really good last minute Christmas sale on it. Now if I could just remember where that was....

Here's a website for the free standing water bottle stands. Although, I use glass bottles. Lexit bottles with a 5/8 inch spout........you can get them from revival.animal. I attach those to the side of each crate and x-pens.

Personally, I buy a set of ceramic bowls, that come in a black stand, from Ross for $5.00 --- they come in several different colors. I have about 4 sets and we just put down a new set of bowls for each kid every day - wash the others out - and then put them in the dishwasher.

Here's a different style of water holder. It is more expensive but I like that shape because there's not so many places to get dirt and dust in. Living in the desert - everything gets dusty!!! I also like the idea of a glass water bottle.

In my house, my pedigrees will only eat on the floor. They like food in their bowl but will not eat it out of hte bowl. They want to eat it off the floor.

SO I pour the food from the bowl into the floor then I put more food ino the bowl then they will eat. Repeat, do not rinse. Every other day I alternate the bowls with cleans bowl and go the dirty ones go thru the dishwasher.

Haha!! This sounds just like Murphy and Alex! Murphy is happiest when I just bypass the dish and put his food directly on the floor. Alex will get his food out of a dish, but he takes several peices and spits them out on the floor then eats them. They're nuts but I love 'em!
