| NV or Primal..What's the Diff? Does anyone have an opinion on the difference between NV and Primal? It seems most, on here, feed NV (including me), but just wanted some feed back (no pun intended ) |

| I feed NV because it's the only premade raw I can find locally. I would love to try Primal. They have more varieties than NV and I've heard a lot of yorkies like it better. But, I know NV is a great quality food and my babies love it so we're sticking with it.

| Hi Mags!!! I don't have an opinion but I will tell you Snick LOVES and goes BANANAS over the Primal we are now feeding. Yes, he did go bonkers when I 1st started NV as well but as you know, he just decided to stop liking it. I think it was b/c he started associating NV with his nasty meds he was taking (rimadyl.) The difference in appearance is quite drastic I must say. The Primal looks like ground up meat and fruit/veggies. I don't know, Nv always looked like a cube of "stuff" to me. Also Primal's bone is finely ground up, NV would sometimes have bone chips and Snick would leave them in his plate and sometimes eat them. Nv and Primal both have many flavors (just saw that NV came out with Bison.) Primal has interesting flavors like Quail and Turkey with Sardines. I also know Primal ONLY makes Raw diets. There is something I like about that. They believe raw is the only way to go. I think both companies are great. I am thrilled Snick loves his raw again, I was scared when he refused his NV that he would not eat raw again. I even had to start warming it up a but for him to eat it when he refuses the NV. He eats the Primal cold out of the fridge. xoxoxox- Snick & Viv

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | One of the main differences, which may or may not be a big deal for you is that Primal foods contain 100% certified organic fruits, vegetables, and supplements in ALL of their formulas. Whereas in NV, the organic component is ONLY present in their Organic Chicken Formula where BOTH the meat AND the fruits/veg/supps are organic. Note that there is NO organic meat choice in Primal's product line. Primal describes their meat as: "human-grade, antibiotic- and steroid-free meats". I have fed both NV and Primal as well as an AZ raw brand. I'm now feeding Primal. [I do not like NV's rabbit as they source their rabbit in China, btw. Just my opinion.]

| I dont think we can get Primal over here where I live. They have the NV raw only that I have seen. I know they don't have alot of selection at my store. |

| Thanks Ya'll...Viv, I remember when Snick got a "tude" w/the NV ('cause of the meds) and I was quietly freaking out that Apple might stop loving her raw...So far, she's still over the moon w/it...However, based on what Ann said about the organic, etc. etc. etc., you KNOW I'm switching to Primal, after she finishes this bag of NV...And, btw, she doesn't leave little bones, tendons, or whatever on her plate...In fact, she goes back to lick the plate three times, incase she missed something lol...Only thing is, it seems like 2 a day doesn't suit her, and 3 would probably be too much??? I've given her a little kibble, inbetween (Before Grain), but I'd rather her just be on raw, since it seems better for their teeth......sigh.....these babies have us on the run, don't they |

| I honestly think they are both great! It seems like NV is readily available to more people. The place I buy Snick's Primal, doesn't carry NV. I wonder why, I'll ask her. She is super picky about what she carries. When I told her that Snick got his "tude" (LoL!!) about NV she told me he would like the Primal for sure!! And he did!!!!! Ann...I was hoping you would see this thread.....is there a specific reason you prefer or feed Primal over NV?? No pressure answering -Vivian

| I fed NV for about a month after switching to raw. I wasn't happy with the larger chunks of bone, the inconsistency of size in the nuggets and the fact I think the company is shady. They were exporting rabbit from CHINA during the huge scare last year and I did not think that was acceptable, despite the email I received back from them when I asked how they were assuring quality control in that situation. Anyway, we switched to Primal after I did the research and found that all of their ingredients are US sourced and human-grade, not only that but all of their protein sources are fed US-grown feed. It was a no-brainer to me. I like the texture and consistency much better than the NV. My boys have done so well on it and I feel good about buying it for them

| Is Primal a complete balance or do I have to add anything to it? I like that the NV is suppose to be balanced. I am just about to start feeding RAW and I have ordered NV medallions. So I am still interested in hearing from any of you that are experts in RAW feeding. I don't have the time to make my own so the ready made that is balanced is good for me I think.

| Primal is most definitely complete. Wow, after Amanda's response I don't think I will ever go back to NV. So true, I don't particularly trust a company which outsources their Rabbit, or any of their meat for that matter from China. I'm glad we "accidently" made this postitive switch. Hopefully Maggie, I hope you have a Primal retailer near you. I'm super lucky to have one about 3 miles from me. Great thread!! -Snick & Viv Ps...Snick is on the duck right now after using their starter pack...he LOVES them all.

I do have a retailer close, Viv!!! Probably about 3 miles or so, also...I was thinking about making Duck the next protein for Apple, since she's on chicken, right now, and they're both fowl...I had her on beef, right before this chicken, but it seemed to have put a little weight on her? Would that make sense? | |

| Maggie...that sounds great. The reason I chose Duck was b/c Snick refused all flavors of NV so I wanted a different flavor and NV does not have Duck. This kind of stinks b/c I have a TON of NV in my freezer!! I bought almost all the flavors when Snick was protesting to see if he would eat them. Geez!! That's alot of money wasted. I guess I will keep them and maybe donate them, my hubby is not goin to be happy...NV is $$$expensive$$$!! Now I know why my retailer doesn't carry NV, should would never carry anything that outsourced a thing from China. Smiles- Snick & Viv
