| Sweet Pea is having her 1st period?? I have a few questions. Sweet Pea is 9 months old and my daughter noticed a spot of blood on her pee pad, so i turned her over and saw a little bit of blood on her "private" part. I was going to go buy the doggie diapers but i noticed today (this is the 2nd day) that she "cleans" herself. On my daughter's bed where she sleeps was a small spot of blood where she was laying, even though she put pee pads all over the bed, but it was such a small spot of blood. Does this mean she is now in "heat?" We take her for a walk every evening, so does this mean we can't until she is not in heat anymore, i know male dogs will be attracted to her "smell." How long does this last? We tried to get her fixed, but she may have a Liver Shunt so the vet will not put her under anesthesia. But i will NOT allow her to have puppies even though family members are bugging me to let her have one litter. Thanks

| Is her vulva swollen? You can take her for walks, but she needs to be kept close and supervised, do not allow a child to take her, and do not leave her outside alone unsupervised. I did not realize that vets will not spay if they have liver shunt. |

If there is a remote possibility that she has LS, why is your family bugging you to have a litter? It would be totally irresponsible. Anyway she's much too young. Has your vet performed a bile acid test on her, to validate LS?

| Thanks, Yes we have had 2 Bils Acid tests and her post levels have been high, so we are treating her with a special diet and meds. The vet wanted to do an ultrasound but being on SSDI i can't afford the $2,000.00 test. So in a few months we will re-test the Bils Acid to see what her levels are. My cousin is the one who is pressuring me to let Sweet Pea have a litter, she is the type of person that its like talking to a brick wall, its all about HER. I have told her i will not allow Sweet Pea to have puppies and to give her babies this Liver Shunt disease. But she is clueless! No matter, Sweet Pea will NOT be having puppies. Plus my cousin has a 3yr old mixed breed that she got from the pound, but she works 2 jobs and the poor dog is home alone alot, which i feel is cruel. Though with this economy people have to do what they gotta do. I have to say though that her dog is very spoiled. Thanks all
