| ![]() check out www.naturesvariety.com then look at the raw food... some ppl make their own raw diets, and some buy it already prepared and frozen, and ready to thaw out and feed...This is just the brand I use...There are others.... |

YT Addict | ![]() i believe feeding raw is really healthy for dogs and if you just changed her food its because of the change. And should definitely stop within the week. like someone said on here my dogs have mucus every once in awhile at the end of their poops and that could be from the anal gland emptying out. raw food really helps with keeping the anal glands clean and healthy it might be a sign that its cleaning her out. i would give her a week watch her if she gets sick and watch for blood in the stool. Some dogs are not able to Handel the raw diet but its very few i really think its cleaning her out honestly. Vets really don't know much about raw food they usually tell everyone they don't like it and other stuff. But its because they really are not that knowledgeable about it. They have all that dry kibble prescription stuff and they believe what kibble companies tell them. vets are really not knowledgeable on what to feed a dog in my opinion. your vet will just tell you to stop but i would wait to see what happens i think it will stop and soon you will have nice firm poops. My dogs are on primal raw its really nice stuff. Last edited by inabowbina; 09-30-2009 at 08:50 PM. |

wanted to add. the person spending a dollar a day. i make my own raw recipe diet and it's really really a lot cheaper than that. it's easy, it stores in the freezer in little cups, and you set the cups out the day you are running out of some and it thaws out overnight and ready to go again. a double batch lasts about two months even for a small puppy who eats three times a day. anyone that's interested PM me and i'll send the recipe to you, it was formulated by my aunt's mom a hobby nutritionist. we love it, great breath healthy coat and skin, perfect teeth and no tarter. i switched Sadie off kibble and onto raw on day 1 when i got her and she never had an issue with it at all and wouldn't touch the kibble the breeder left for her so i had to feed something and she loved the raw.

I will be PMing you!! I am thinking of doing the raw myself because I really want both dogs on it and NV is just too expensive for both dogs.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() I know I am late on this thread but I wanted to contribute too. I feen Niyah Nature's Variety Raw and I agree with one of the members here. When Niyah goes, it is firm and normal. Sometimes too hard so I am supplementing it with some kibble in between. You probably should have taken it to the vet and have it tested to see what the problem was. Try Nature's Variety and make sure you do not thaw out more than a day's feeding or it will spoil. It even tells you on the package and it MUST always be refriderated. I always put two medallions in a new clean baggie everyday for Niyah's feeding. Please keep us up to date.

Wow, I have one Yorkie too but it doesn't cost me a dollar a day. How much are you feeding Apple a day? I feed Niyah 2 of the medallions a day. According to Nature's Variety, this is how much I should be feedng her. I only pay 14.00 or so a bag depending on if I have get any coupons from their website and one bag lasts Niyah a month. She weighs 3 pounds so maybe this is why. I don't know how much your Apple weighs. I also supplement in between her raw meals with kibble.

| ![]() I feed a Prey Model Raw diet (PMR). I spend less than $1 a day. In fact, I've spent about $100 this year total on dog food and still have 1/2 a freezer left. Chewing the bones is wonderful for the teeth and I could go on and on about the benefits. To the OP, did you start with a PMR diet or are you feeding a premade food like NV? And if it's PMR, could you tell me exactly what you fed? It might be just the change in diet and it's pretty common although my dogs never had any upset at all! If you are feeding PMR it might mean that you might have to tweak the diet at little. Either way, good luck! |
