| They don't like the RAW I'm posting this in general so hopefully more people will see it, if admin needs to move it to diet that's fine. I've been very excited to start my girls on Nature's Variety rotation. I've heard great things. They are 4mths old. So, got the frozen and a little bit of NV kibble to round it out, as they are on the small side and want them to be able to eat between meals. Broke out the medallions, put it in the bowl, and they took a nice healthy sniff, looked at me.. both of them like..ewwww...it's RAW...yuck ... and turned up their collective noses. I tried two different kinds...duck and lamb... tried mixing it with their beloved Royal Canin kibble ..no dice...now what...I really want for them to have the healthiest diet possible and I think this is it. Oh, they aren't nuts about the NV kibble either. After much research this really is the brand I want to go with, but as small as they are I don't want to go the, "they get hungry enough, they'll eat" route that I'd take with a finicky skinkid...LOL Suggestions? They love frozen blanched green beans, baby carrots, broiled plain tilapia.

| Silly question- but just have to make sure You did thaw them out, correct? Ranger turned up his nose the first few days of it, but once he saw how much Ryder loved it, he dug in and has never stopped since. I do prefer Primal, however, but not sure if changing the brand would help with your pups.

| You can also try warming it up a bit. Just put it in the microwave for a few seconds. |

| I just started my little male on NV raw also. The holistic nutritionist I spoke with said to mix it with green beans...so maybe try that. But, she also said transition from his old food to the new food slowly over several days. We are going very slow! ~~~ Valerie |

| Ok, I appreciate all the responses! When I dropped the medallions in the bowl and the bowl broke, I figured I needed to thaw first, those frozen suckers are hard...JK!!! yah..I thawed first...LOL Seriously...I put in the fridge for 24hrs first to thaw... I chopped, actually kinda shredded up a bit with a fork before serving..no dice... then I mixed a bit of the NV kibble, nada (they had seemed to like the kibble at first) I finally gave in and mixed a bit of broiled tilapia with it and they ate it, but that kind of defeats the purpose. I'm going to try the microwaving idea and maybe the green beans in it..they do like green beans.. If ya'll come up with any other ideas..I'm still wide open... and thanks a bunch...I love this site!!

| They love it, but.... it is a combination of all of your suggestions, I mix in the NV kibble and the tilapia and then nuking it put it over the edge...amazing what that 10 seconds does. So...now I gotta wean 'em off the components and just get them to the raw...*sigh*...LOL Yah, you're right they put us through it, no way I'd do this for skinkids. Mine ate what I put in front of them or they went without... they are in their 30s and healthy as horses... worked for them... these guys turn up their delicate noses and I scramble

| What color was the lamb you are using? does it look kindof grey or is it more reddish like the meat we buy at the market? I just started feeding the lamb and am concerned with the coloring.

| lamb it is a dusty pinkish gray...more of a gray I suppose, but when you cut into it, it is most definitely raw pink on the inside. When you nuke it for 10 seconds and cut into it, healthy pink blood comes out. When you factor in that they are adding in some nutrients other than raw meat in order to make sure that all their dietary needs are met then I would expect some discoloration.

| No more tilapia! They aren't chowing quite as fast, but eating it they are!! All I'm doing is nuking it for the 10 seconds, I may one day stop doing that, maybe not. They share one medallion per meal, twice a day, and I leave a few kibble out throughout the day but they don't much care for it. I've left their previous Royal Canin kibble out, but they haven't even been eating that (they loved it!) as they actually seem full from their two meals. They clean their dinner bowl, but don't seem to need to 'graze'. Success in a matter of a few days... And... no poop issues, transition caused no diahrrea, or even loose stools, maybe just a little 'sticky' for a day'...that's it!!! Thanks everyone!!
