you crack the eggs over the rice so they get partially cooked by the hot steaming already cooked rice...pretty easy really. wanted to add: i really hope the dog(s) like it, if you want to continue and get the supplements they are on the iherb.com website Last edited by RachelandSadie; 08-17-2009 at 11:20 AM.

I really liked this part: Dogs do not need veggies or fruits. Look in your dogs' mouths. What do you see? Canines, right? No grinders for chewing fruits and veggies. Dogs are carnivorous (from dictionary.com: 1. flesh-eating: A dog is a carnivorous animal.). Now, look in your mouth: mostly grinders (chewing fruits & veggies) and a few canines (for ripping and tearing meat). We are omnivorous (An organism that eats both plants and animals.)

i think dogs need a variety of different foods not all of one thing or another...Karrie and I use this recipe because we both trusted her mom as a hobby nutritionist for dogs. I really believe this is helping Sadie eat better than she would have on kibble and keeps her healthier and keeps her teeth clean and her poop regulated. the rice and eggs and veggies add carbs that proteins don't give the dogs, their bodies are much like humans in that they need variety and they need a lot of nutrients. they jsut don't need rotten ones from some companies floor... google the history of dog food and the results might make you sick, the things they crush up to feed our dogs is awful, horses, euthanized pets, ext all might be lurking in that kibble.. it's always a personal choice, some vets don't approve, but it works for us and we swear by it. Thanks

however...have you ever watched a dog eat grass when sick to it's stomach?? there are things in the grass that a dog needs to help digest food, they aren't 100% carnivores, they do need some carbohydrates and other things that veggies and fruit give them, more specifically rice and green veggies, i don't use fruit. they need a well balanced diet as well as we do... dogs when they were wolves would eat not only the carnivorous parts of the animal that it killed but also the contents of that animals stomach, which always contained veggies and plant matter. they need it!! All Natural Diet for Dogs Dog Food Tips - Balanced Diet For Dogs - What Dogs Can Eat Dog Owner's Guide: Building a balanced diet I really think they need the carbs and the extra nutrients found in the rice and veggies of this recipe, they don't need the rotten yucky stuff in kibble, but they still need that veggie nutrients like they'd get eating the stomach contents of their kill in the wild. Thanks for reading, not trying to sway any decisions here, just being informative if i can

| i think the carbs in the rice is actually quite necessary, that's the whole reason my vet approves it, it's well balanced, without that essential part, she's not getting enough of ALL the nutrients she needs and did you notice all three that i posted say to give veggies as well... we can disagree on this, that's fine with me, i just want to put my own information out there for others to see and choose if they'd like it. not trying to start a fight with you at all, you do your raw, i'll do mine...thanks!! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I have some links on raw and I'd bet others have a bunch too....maybe for reading/learning and especially those new to raw feeding, we could all post some links we like? And then, I could collect them all and create a permanent post in the library. Does anyone think that'd be helpful?

| I'm here gals Ann!! Hey babe! I know, it's been awhile, life got kinda crazy but you know I am always up for commenting on any raw thread!! Since you were so supportive and helpful with my transition I think you putting a sticky on Raw would be GREAT! Ladies, if making your doggies raw or giving them raw from the butcher is uncomfortable or inconvenient for you, you can always try Nature's Variety which I will swear by. My Snickers is gorgeous and I don't mean that b/c he is my baby After switching to NV raw, his teeth, coat, breathe, everything is incredible. He is so healthy and has such amazing agility. I can go on and on. NV raw is pre-made so you just thaw, cut up and serve. Easy as pie. I also supplement Evo kibble on the side incase Snick wants a snack. Nv is also grain free which I prefer as Snickers doesn't itch at ALL anymore and grainfree suits him. More info: Nature's Variety Incredible food! Snick loves the Venison and Lamb!! Smiles! Snick & Viv
