| How much kibble per day does your dog eat? I am curious if you all find the recommended feeding amount on the bag of kibble to be way more than your dog eats? Reggie has been in Royal Canin since he was a puppy because that was what the breeder had him on. I was waiting to switch him to something that I felt was a better grade of food until he graduated to adult food. I had tried some Wellness puppy samples, giving them to him as treats and he loved it. Last month I bought a bag of the RC adult and got him off puppy food. This past week when I went to buy dog food we started the switch to Wellness. I have been giving him 50/50 of each kind for a week now and have been slowing increasing the amount of Wellness in the mix. Anyways, on the RC he would eat anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 cup of kibble per day. Since I started mixing the 2 foods he has been eating about 1/4 or a little more per day. He also has gone from having 2 BM's a day to one on most days but it doesn't smell bad like it did before. I think he likes the Wellness fine but I also think he has just oveall been eating less because of the hot weather. Even when on the RC he was eating way less than what the bag recommends. He weighs 10 lbs. Is it normal for little dogs to eat way less than the bag says? |

| I don't have an answer to your question but Tobie is on Royal Canin puppy 33 and his poo smells really bad too. I wonder if this is because of the Royal Canin food or because it's puppy food. I was planning to keep him on puppy food for a year (because that's what my vet recommends) but I'm beginning to wonder if I should switch him sooner to something better. hmmm

| I can say from my end that it is the RC making it smell. The last 2 days Reggie's mix has been down to maybe 1/5 RC and 4/5 Wellness Super5Mix Small Breed. Today I gave him all Wellness. His poo literally had NO smell this morning. His poo seems to be more firm too. Wellness has a puppy formula you could go ahead and switch to and then keep him on it 10-11 mos. is the recommendation. |

| I will say that Reggie ate a lot more when he was a puppy. Now that he is not growing so much and fast maybe he doesn't need as much food. |

It's nice to find someone who has a dog like mine! Sasha eats usually 1/4 cup of food a day. When she was a puppy, she ate I believe 3/4 cup total for the day. She's almost 2 and now only eats 1/4. Depending on when she finishes it, sometimes I'll give her 1/8 of a cup in the evening just to hold her over until the morning, so at most, she gets 3/8 of a cup. She really isn't a big eater. She's currently eating Innova EVO and is doing very well on it.

Sasha is 1/4 Maltese and 3/4 Yorkie. Usually, I always give her a little biscuit after she finishes her food, but it still surprises me that she doesn't eat it all right away, since she knows what she gets when she does finish it. I know I'm not underfeeding her because she never throws up bile or seems lethargic. She has so much energy and loves to play. I usually try to take her on a 20 minute walk a day or longer as my parents don't have a fenced in yard (I very much wish they did ) just to get her some extra exercise so she doesn't gain extra pounds. Her food is high in protein, so I always feared that she would gain weight from it, but she hasn't! She looks wonderful! It's reassuring to find someone else on here who's dog is the same as mine eating wise!

| Reggie gets a 1 mile walk through our neighborhood most days except for when it is bad weather or I just can't get out to take him. He is actually our 14 yo daughter's dog that she got last Oct. for her birthday but I am the one who walks him mostly and I am home a lot with him. I am a stay at home Mom who substitute teaches in the school systems about 1-3 days a week. Reggie's weight is all good too and I know he is not underfed but it just surprises me how little he eats. We also have a 16 yo Rat Terrier and a 10 yo collie. They are both outside dogs and stay in the fenced in back yard. Reggie can't have time in the back yard because the Rat Terrier doesn't accept him very well (old and cranky) and I am afraid he would get hurt. So I just let them keep their space separate from him. |
