I agree, Coco's form, although still cute as a button, is that of an overweight dog and since the term "obese" comes in to play at that certain percentage (can't remember what it is offhand), then I bet the vet is right on with his dx. Hard to hear that about our "kids" but better to help them lose a little and live a lot longer.

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() I constantly worry that Alfie is overwieght since he was neutured. He gets fed twice a day and I try to be careful about the amount. He gets around 1hours exersice a day and loads of playtime with Rosie. He has what breeders overhere would term alot of heartroom & I can just feel his ribs & backbone. He had his booster today so I asked the vet who had a feel & said he wasd quite happy with his current weight as compared to most neutured dogs he sees his weight gain isnt too bad & to keep doing what I am. Made me feel a little better. |

![]() ![]() That said, they are all young, and keeping them 'trim', adds to their life, and enjoyment of life. ALWAYS measure the food, and feed separately. Start with 4 times a day, and go down to 3 then 2, if that's what works for you. I took a big girl, who was free fed, and started with 6 meals a day... and went down to 2, like the rest of the crew. It is very obvious that you love them! You will do what is in their best interest! ![]()

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Yes he's fully grown, I thunk he is anyway, he's 15 months on thursday. But hes so greedy, I have to seperate him from Rosie at mealtimes as he'd eat hers as well. His portions look so small but I guesss judging by the amount of trouble he gets into hes getting enough calories. He was slightly bigger than he is now so I had to cut out the rawhide chews and other treats. so now he's chewing otherthings, namely anything made of wood. Just hoping he grows out of it someday. |

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Dont think we have bully sticks over here but I do give them dried tripe, much healthier than other chews. Alfie loves anything he can chew, So does Rosie but shes a lazy madam & wants some-one to do the hard work. I draw the line at softening up tripe, yukkkk.. ![]() |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() It's really hard to tell when they have long hair, and I think that's how Joey was able to put on weight without me knowing it. Now I weigh him before his bath, I don't want he to get chunky again. Thank you, Joey's breeder gave him that cut, and I absolutely love it.
