On the dog food analysis site, not sure who the reviewer was, but I was just looking at a certain brand with a new formula, and the reviewer did comment on the lower meat quantity in the ingredients, however, s/he also shared your response in that supplementing with real meat protein sources will help to balance that out.

| Yes, I have heard of Wellness and Acana ... which of the two is better? Do they have for breed specific or small breed?

| Vote for acana Quote:
I have fed both Wellness (puppy, small breed and Core low fat) and Acana (grain-free) and I would have to give my vote (very confidently) to ACANA! Although Wellness is a high quality food, the moments I started feeding Acana my girls' coats got shinier! Seriously, read the ingredients--it is so healthy. Champion Petfoods | ACANA | Products - Puppy Small Breed I have a difficult time finding it at first but now I get it from Bark and Fitz. We still use the wellness canned as treat now and then . . . but we love ACANA!
