That's just got to be cute and hilarious to witness! I wish my girl would do that. She just stares then paws at me and wags her tail expecting to get something different than her usual kibbles. Oh, but now she's taken a liking to eating her meals out of the treat ball I just picked up recently and been alternating the contents between her regular kibbles and her "fake treat" kibbles of a different flavour. She gobbles them right up!

On the dog food analysis site, not sure who the reviewer was, but I was just looking at a certain brand with a new formula, and the reviewer did comment on the lower meat quantity in the ingredients, however, s/he also shared your response in that supplementing with real meat protein sources will help to balance that out.
