| Hot Natured?? I think Kayden is hot natured I take her for at least one walk every day. And after about 30 minutes, she gets so hot that she just lays down and starts panting. I take water for her to drink...but she just acts so hot. And when we get home, she heads straight to her water bowl and drinks a ton again. We keep her hair short. She's even like this in the car. When we're in the car, I have to turn two of the a/c vents on her. If I don't, she stands up and puts her nose in front of one of them so she can feel the air. She's not overweight at all. (I checked with the vet) She plays hard all the time. She loves to play fetch all day...morning to night. Anybody else have a baby like this? Could this be some type of health issue? Oh...and...she loves, loves, loves water. Bathtub...shower...rivers...lakes. Weird, huh?! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It could just be that she overheats quicker than other dogs. But, outside of when she is active - is she also engaging in excessive drinking/peeing or anything?

| thanks for the reply. i think she drinks a lot...but don't have any other babies...so i'm not sure. she drinks a full water bowl (small sized) a day. and sometimes more if we go out more than once. is that normal? she pees several times a day. most are just barely yellow...mostly clear. (she pees on pads so i can see) kelli |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It's really probably nothing , so I hate to scare you...but it is good to check it out whenever there might be PU/PD. Could be just the heat from summer too, but ya never know. Please keep me updated and PM me if you should need anything!

| Can you measure her water? Just put 1 cup (8 ounces) down and then measure at the end of the day. If she is drinking too much more than 1 ounce per pound of body weight daily without going out in the heat, there may be a problem.

That is perfectly normal with dry. If she ate canned most of the time, then she would be drinking too much.
