| What Age Was Your Yorkie Neutured? My puppy is almost 5 months and I've heard very mixed opinions and ages about when to get him neutured. Even my vet gave me a wide time frame. Can you give me some advice as to when to take him? Do I have to wait for his "friends" to drop lol... |

| I finally took Brady when he was just a couple weeks shy of turning a year. I had meant to do it months before.. the sooner the better.

| 6 months is ideal. Couver went a few days before he turned 6 months. It is important to do it before they develop any bad habits (humping, marking...) Couver does not do any of the above, and I credit it to his neuter. He was humping like a madman before, and it completely ceased within two weeks of being fixed

| I left it quite late..Pixie was 13 months old and had already had her 1st season...I was making sure she had reached her maximum weight as she is very tiny and I was very nervous! but she did amazingly well which was a huge relief.

| I agree and we are doing the same thing. We're more concerned with Maggie May reaching a certain weight, rather than a certain age, before we get her fixed.

| Ralphie was 10 months old, which I felt was too old but he had some health issues so I had to wait until he was older. I would give anything if I could have done it pre humping and marking But ahh, such is life. Now I have to live with both.

| Snickers and Baxter both were neutered at 6 mos. of age. They were just starting to lift their leg and mark around the house. We had to keep them in belly bands up until their neutering. But thankfully the marking stopped immediately after they were neutered.

| 5 months... The earliest our vet would do it was 5 months. I wanted to make sure it was soon enough to aviod all the bad behavior started (marking, humping my Roxie). My vet said he could do it at 5 months because his vaccinations were up to date and his 'friends' dropped, along with his adult teeth coming in. The younger he is the faster the recovery, it barely effected him at all- within 24 hours Ryder was his normal self I was the one chasing him trying to get him to calm down! I would recommend that your vet uses the disolvable stitches. Ryder didnt even notice them and they were gone before we knew it!

| Six months here too. I would do it as soon as the vet will allow it. That way you can curb most of those unwanted male bahavoirs. |
