Hmm, I've never noticed that. But, I usually wait until they have a sale on the food I buy. That way it works out to about the same price (including shipping) as it is locally and I don't have to pay sales tax. Wow! I just went to both websites and compared prices on NV's Instinct (the largest bag). K9Cuisine does not have it on sale right now, but when it is on sale, I'm saving about $20 off the price of petfooddirect - AND that's assuming I had a 20% off coupon for them.

Science Diet is definitely not a high quality food, but don't rely soley on the grading chart.

If I'm looking at the correct food, (Hill's Science Diet Puppy Growth Small Bites ), the first three ingredients are Ground Whole Grain Corn, Chicken By-Product Meal, Soybean Meal- all of which you should avoid when choosing a food.

If you're looking for a premium food, I'd recommend trying Orijen, Innova EVO, or Wellness CORE.

My other suggestion would be to check local feed/ag stores. Many of them carry some of the better foods.

I went on a search for dog food 3 yrs ago and again 5 months ago when Lexie came home.... I looked into what each ingredient is exactly.
There are many that have corn, by products, many times a dogs allergies are due to the food he is fed, even with a good food like natures varierty my dogs had reverse sneezing, when I changed them to Innova, they were ok. After a while on it, Zander was tired of it, so we have done ... California naturals , wellness, and back to California naturals. Lexie was fed chicken soup for the puppy soul, I am in the process of switching her to California natural ... good luck.

Yeah Science Diet isnt any good. Ella's breeder had been feeding it to her && My vet also recommended it but I think they like have a deal with science diet & have to say that or something????

My small town feed & grain store carries Wellness...and it's cheaper there than in the Petco, a few towns over. Wellness Small Breed is an excellent kibble. I feed it dry in the morning and mix it with a tiny bit of their 95% meat canned food for her evening meal. My Zoey loves it and is prospering on it.
