| Donating YT 10K Club Member | Have you plucked the hair inside his ear canel? If that is left inside it leads to a build up of wax and dirt and can cause odors.

| Also, can anyone recommend a good ear cleaner that smells good/decent? I got mine from the vet but it doesn't smell good.

| Max had bad breath for a little while before he had some puppy teeth removed when neutered. Anyway, I had a vet (same clinic but not his usual vet) look at him and he (vet) was fishing around trying to get Max to let him see his teeth. Max was fighting him a bit. I think he knocked a bad tooth loose because after just that...the smell was gone. Amazing how bad one rotting baby tooth can smell.

| Senior Yorkie Talker | I've been thinking of trying anti bacterial shampoo since apple feet tend to smell like human dirty socks and when she gets nervous she tends to let out a very bad body ordor. I to spoke to the vet and she suggested trying a hypo allergenic shampoo or her. I try that but, I think the anti bacterial might help since its suppose to kill bacteria that causes bad smells

| We use Chlorhexiderm Flush but of course whether it smells good or not is open to interpretation. I don't mind it.

| YT 2000 Club Member | I was going to suggest food or ears.. Tucker has bad smelling ears if he is on a food that doesnt agree with him, that is my sign that he needs a different food. When I got him he was on puppy chow and had a terrible ear infection and any time Ive tried him on any kind of food with corn in it his ears starts stinking again. So we stay away from corn. Anyways. Im gald that you found the smell. I would also suggest changing his food if the smell continues.

| Try some OtiCalm ear solution,it's alcohol free so it does not over dry the ears and it smells fresh. I have only been able to find it through my vet and kvvet.com. It's chaeper at kvvet.com. In the beginning use it daily for 7 to 10 days untill all the gook comes out. Then you can judge it by when his ears start to smell. Its kind of oily because it has eucalyptus oil in it , but you just have to deal with it while you are clearing up the ears and removing the gook. Then for maintinence I use a dropper about 5 drops in each ear as needed. In the beginning fill the ear canal, never shoot it or any other ear cleaner directly into the ear. Hold the ear up and shoot it towards the ear flap, just at the opening of the ear until you can see the canal is full. Gently massage the base of the ear, then stand back and let them shake it out . This helps to bring out the gook so you can clean it out with a Q-Tip or a tissue. And dont ever stick the Q-tip down any farther then you can see. |
