| Thor's Human Donating Member | I bought the spray, but it turns out that Thor hates the sensation of having his gums sprayed even more than getting his teeth brushed. Who would have guessed? Britster, I recommend that you get in the habit of brushing his teeth every day. I do Thor's teeth every night, right after mine. It literally takes five minutes. Thor does not like getting his teeth brushed either. I started just using the toothbrush and rubbing my finger on his teeth and gums. Unfortunately, those finger brushes they sell are almost as big as Thor is, no way would I be able to get that in his mouth. I haven't tried gauze. I just this week brought the brush back. For now I am letting him lick the toothpaste off and chew on the brush when he wants (BTW, he prefers beef flavored to poultry). I try doing one or two sets of teeth with the brush, but I'm still primarily using my finger. I hope to have him completely on the brush in the next 3-6 months. I'm looking into getting that stuff you can put in their water also.

| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | It depends on the product, but you need to go to the manufacture's website, and see what claims they make for the product, don't just take a salesperson's word for it. I've seen products pushed here, that said, no teeth brushing required, just add to water, however, the manufacture, just claims it's a digestive aid and freshens breath. Mint has long been said to do this, so the manufacture can truthfully make that claim, however sales people will say it does much more, and reduces tartar. There are lots of the "add to the water" products, if any of them really worked, I would think there would be something similar for humans, because humans have tartar problems as well. I would not waste my money on add to the water products, if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

| I bought the Petrodex poultry flavor toothpaste. Anyone here use it? She likes the taste but is very suspicious of the whole procedure. All I'm doing is using my finger at this point. Her mouth is so tiny I can't even get the finger brush in there, and the toothbrush totally freaks her out...

| I use both the spray and the gel -- None of mine like the spray so I soak a q-tip in the bottle and rub it on their gums especially around the gumline!! Works wonders. |

Hmm I wonder what is done differently. Do you know exactly what part of the animal a bully stick is? As long as those things don't make it up to my bed, I don't mind. But my older boy loves to chew his chewies while he places his bum on me. Thanks for the advice thou | |
