It depends on the product, but you need to go to the manufacture's website, and see what claims they make for the product, don't just take a salesperson's word for it. I've seen products pushed here, that said, no teeth brushing required, just add to water, however, the manufacture, just claims it's a digestive aid and freshens breath. Mint has long been said to do this, so the manufacture can truthfully make that claim, however sales people will say it does much more, and reduces tartar. There are lots of the "add to the water" products, if any of them really worked, I would think there would be something similar for humans, because humans have tartar problems as well. I would not waste my money on add to the water products, if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
