Hmm...Buddy did not throw up...just blood and mucous in his soft poop. Our vet told us to give Buddy boiled chicken (breast meat) and white rice. I also added a tsp of puree pumpking to help with the soft stools. Have you taken Zeus to the vet yet? If he is acting weird I would certainly take him in. Fortunately Buddy wasn't throwing up, and his behavior was rather normal through the whole ordeal. When the vet saw him he said that if he had been acting out of it, they would have taken a rectal temp to see if he was fighting an infection on some sort in his gut, so Buddy got lucky....no anal probing. I have not given Buddy or his sister Lilu a bully stick since then..and both have been perfectly fine. I guess some dogs have more sensitive stomachs than others. I hope Zeus gets well soon!!

I haven't taken him in yet but will make an appt. here soon. He started with loose stools on Friday. On Saturday he wouldn't eat his food. I finally got him to eat pumpkin with his kibble. That night he was acting weird and threw up a couple of times. Again, Sunday morning he threw up bile from his empty tummy. I boiled chicken and made rice and added the pumpkin to it like you did. He kept his food down and this morning I saw the blood in his poop. He is acting fine and got his appetite back today. I am so confused. I was hoping this would have passed by now. Glad to hear your baby got over it with out much trouble. I am sorry the bully stick didn't work out for him because he loved it!

I took Zeus in on Monday and he had a high count of bacteria in his intestines. We got some meds and thought he was getting better. Until this morning. I discovered something strange in his poop. Looked like white little beads. I took him back to the vet and come to find out he has a tapeworm! Yikes!! The vet thinks he ate a cricket or something in our yard. He totally chases bugs and eats them. Well, he was given a shot and a pill to take a week from now. He seems fine and I hope this is it. My poor baby had a rough week!
