| My little man's ears! are not standing up..... ..... Now, when he's sleepin like a baby, those 2 ears are perked right up!!! but when he's awake, they are down. Should I be worried, concerned, is this normal? is he not a yorkie? he was born on Feb. 14.... is it his age? Last edited by Yoli-Lu; 04-21-2009 at 08:05 AM. |

| I wouldn't be worried. Zeus's ears went down for a short period when we first got him and went back up and stayed that way. Down or up both are cute! |

YT Addict | He could be teething, I've heard that will cause the ears to flop, or his hair could be weighing them down. Some people will tap their yorkie's ears to stand. Lexi's ears never stood up. I think it's adorable.

Tate's never stood up either but he has pretty thick hair. I think I could have trained them if I had wanted to, but I was too lazy. I think he looks cuter this way. you can train them by shaving the hair and taping them up.

| No worries! He is definately a Yorkie! Both ours never stood up and they are abosolutely beautiful. Both have very thick hair coats too. I would let nature take its course, it'll be best for you and your little guy. We love the floppy look, just make sure to dry the inside of their ears gently or better yet use a hairdryer on low to insure no water stays in the ear! Good luck he's adorable! |

| Mine had one ear up and one ear down. I kept trimming the hair on the one that was down. For the past 2 days they are both up. He is 4 mths. old. It looked cute either way and when he slept they would both be up.

| Jackson's ears didn't stand until he got groomed for the first time at 4 months old.

| We had the same thing happen with our little yorkie at around 4 months. His one ear would go up and down and we never knew if it was going to stay up. Since I liked his ears hairy I left them growing. I was later told that while they are teething their ears can flop and it is very important to keep the leather shaved (or trimmed short) to help the delicate tissue stay up on it's own without having to fight the weight of the hair. By then it was too late for us to shave his ears or tape them, but it has become part of his character. And he's perfect! But when I got my other yorkie I did go to the groomer every other week to get the ears tipped. I would go in and ask the groomer to ONLY tip the ears while I waited and the groomer charged $5.00 for this service. Good Luck! |

| He is still very young and looks like he came from a good breeder. He is adorable. I have some puppies that can take up to six months some times. They will come up I am sure if that as everyone has been saying just keep them trimmed. You can do it with a pair of scissors or a pair of clippers. He is a real doll congrats on your baby and I am so happy you are on YT asking for help it speaks volumes about what a great Mommy you are. |
