| All cities and vets are different, as far as peanut he get his rabies every 3 year ( the first rabies is a 1 yr after that it goes to 3 yr) then he gets corona- distemper, parvo, & lyme he gets those every year. and bordetella every 6 months just because he is outside a lot and he does to grooming and daycare What has you baby had and when?

| One year boosters should include rabies, parvo, distemper and, in my opinion, hepatitis. After this year, the schedule should change depending on what you and your vet are comfortable with. I wouldn't even consider getting lymes or lepto to a Yorkie in probably over 95% of the country. Are these common in your area and if lymes is, are dogs geting sick from it or just infected? Infection and disease are different... Corona for an adult dog...I would not do it personally. I wouldn't do giardia or the dental vaccine either. Parainfluenza comes in most DHP combos, so unless you do singles or the the orders a special combo for you, you will likely have to give it. I don't think it is too dangerous though. Intranasal bordatella can cause the disease (although it is said to be mild). It is recommended for dogs who are groomed or boarded but it's kind of controversial. Since it can cause the disease and it has to be given at least yearly, it isn't worth it to some people. We do not give it.

| i just talked to my vet yesterday about the 1 year boosters for my two oldest...i was waiting for 1 year "anniversary" from their final (3rd) puppy shot and not the 1 yr old mark or 1 year from their first puppy shot mark and he said this was correct (whew! lol) we talked extensively and mine will just get DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parvo and parainfluenza) and rabies 2-3 weeks after the booster...he is trying to talk me into bordatella but i keep refusing and will continue to refuse ... all in all he is a great vet (he said absolutely NO to lyme, corona, lepto, giardia, etc for my kids) and we mostly agree - just not on the bordatella i am really glad i talked to him because i did not realize parvo was so prevalent in my area

| Because Ellie needed emergency treatment after a vaccine once and because she has liver issues, her schedule isn't realistic for most people. That is, when dogs are hospitalized most vets require bordatella. Ellie's vet lets us skip it, etc. If I had a healthy dog, I would do rabies pup shot, then one year later, then every three years (to comply with MI law). I would do distemper, parvo and hepatitis and possibly parainfluenza three times as pup shots starting no earlier than 8 or 10 weeks, then a one year booster (never given on the same day as rabies) and then I'm not sure after that. Titering every year may be a good way to go for some dogs. I am finding that Ellie has a chronically low distemper titer and I know she is protected, so this doesn't work for everyone. You could also just do the DHPP every three years or after the one year booster, some would say the dog is protected for life... It depends on your and your vet's comfort level. What I would absolutely not do is vaccinate every year. The other ones should only be given if absolutely necesssary and, in my opinion, corona and giardia never fall into that category. Lepto and lymes rarely do for Yorkies.

Ellie May you know everything! My puppy had all his puppy shots. The last one he got was rabies. I just want to make sure I'm prepared when the time comes for his boosters. | |
