I could not agree more. Dogs feel pain. If my dog is in pain, he will be treated for it.

| Can you imagine no pain meds after a hysterectomy. I will always pay the extra $$ for pain meds. |

| Spaying and Neutering I would like to comment on this topic as it is near and dear to my heart. I am actively involved in animal rescue. Almost every weekend I drive dogs and sometimes cats pulled from shelters down south before they can be euthanized. I usually pick them up in New Jersey and drive them north to New York where another person takes them and drives them further north to upstate NY or Connecticut or New Hampshire. They are going to foster homes or adoptive homes or rescue organizations It is called the "Waggin Train". There are literally thousands and thousands of dogs that need homes. Many are purebred. Just look at Petfinder.com and you will see just some of the dogs available of every size, breed and sex. Many of these dogs were born because the owners didn't bother to spay or neuter, or they wanted to have their children experience of birth or any number of reasons I could give. The reality is that it is a disgrace that this country Kills dogs and cats by the hundreds every single day. Until we stamp out puppy mills and backyard breeders this will not change. So, I beg you to really, really examine carefully why you would not spay or neuter. Thanks for listening. |

| I went to the vet for Leo's shots and exam, paid $265 and then she gave me an estimate of $600 for the neuter, wow anyway we went to the animal league and paid $115 for a neuter certificate and selected the participating vet.Im gonna schedule him this week.He is 16months old and i think its a good thing to neuter. Hopefully he will recover fast and not be in lots of pain. |

| Oh wow! The place I think we will go that does laser surgery is only $96 for the spay and about $70 for all the blood tests. I can't imagine $600 for a neuter!! |

| why does Mac need to be neutered!?? Mac is not tiny he is 6 1/2 - 7lbs. 2 1/2 years. Shots make him throw up. He is healthy, but not a real "sturdy" dog...or I should say he feels and acts fragile. He is NOT a sissy!! LOL I have struggled for years now with neutering him. First he was too young, then he was too skinny..Now after joining YT and reading the horror stories about babies going in to be spayed & neutered AND not making it. I CAN NOT DO IT! He is an inside dog never left out alone so he wont accidently breed...He does not Mark unless he goes out of out yard for a walk(with us on a leash)..good natured...I cant do it... | I just wanted to add, I am shock of vets not prescribing pain management after S/N. I agree with Ellie May, if I need to get Pao neutered one day, pain management is a must even if it means more money! I am sure they feel pain and they can't talk to you hence they can't tell you.

| I decided NOT to neuter one of my babies. My gut tells me not to. I love him the way he is. Yes, I deal with marking issues and I hope to break him of that someday. It took me a long time to make the decision and I have had to work hard to put it out of my head. I always would say 'someday I'll do it' but he is almost 4 years old now and I still have a gut feeling not to do it. If you are on the fence, make sure you wait until you are sure. If you feel sure you don't want to do it for whatever reason, then you must learn to let it go and not feel guilty about it or have it hanging over your head.

Edited to add: Do you use a pee pad at home? Maybe try to put a small bottle filled with water in the middle of the pad? Pao doesn't mark in the house but he does go to his pee pad and aim at the bottle when he needs to pee and I think it helps him mentally when he needs to mark, he goes there lol.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | My girl was a rescue and spayed right before I adopted her. She had just turned 4 yrs old and was 7 pounds at the time of her spay.

| Ohhhh, I hate this! I just made the appointment for Penny. So I guess I can answer the question, "Yes" I have chosen to spay. Thanks to this thread, we found what we believe is a great place that does laser surgery, will do the blood work and use both gas and IV. |
