| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hello - I would not recommend another course of antibiotics. The infection came back, and this likely means that it was NOT the correct antibiotic - the med was just able to suppress the infection. If you give more of the same antibiotic - you will possibly cause more antibiotic resistance, making even stronger antibiotics less likely to help when he needs them. You really need to have a skin scraping done - so a proper diagnosis can be made, and then a matching treatment selected.

| I'm originally from Saudi Arabia. I have lived the best five years of my life (so far) in Tempe, AZ when I went to Arizona State University. I have been living in Dubai for almost two years now and planning to move to the U.K. the middle of this year. I will be looking for a home for Canaan there because my wife (also from Saudi) and I plan to travel a lot and lead a minimalist lifestyle that is much more difficult with the little Yorkie. We have had Canaan for almost 3 years now (we bought him from a breeder in Phoenix, AZ), and it's gonna be the hardest thing to part with him. The idea of going to the U.K. came to us when my wife went there on a vacation and found that most people there are very friendly towards dogs. We will see if it will be feasible to give Canaan to a family (some where in or around London) that will let us check on him by phone, email or a visit every once in awhile... For now, I'll let you know how it goes with the holistic vet... |

All I can say is: you can be certain that we really love him and will do everything in our power to make sure he's not harmed either physically or emotionally and that he finds all the happiness he deserves. | |

I'll be interested to see if the holistic vet does a skin scrapping -- I really had to push my vet to do one. But you need to make sure you tell him what was tried before - make sure you have the name of the antibiotic.

| My 4 year old little girl had the same problem...we had her to the vet in PA in Nov 07 before we moved to SC because she had the red spot that turned flaky and sticky...they did nothing for her...told me to change her food...didn't say to what! Moved to SC.new vet said do the hypo allergenic food and treats...no improvement.... tried another vet and this one said definitely food allergy.... suggested Natural Balance fish and sweet potato food and duck and potato treats...also gave her an allergy shot. What a difference in less than 3 weeks...she was like a puppy...coat was beautiful. I opted to do testing and she is allergic to everything...the big one was corn which so many food have. I still get her a shot every 6 weeks but she is GREAT! |
