I am very sad for Canaan. I'm sure he loves you and your wife dearly and is very attached to you. It can be very traumatic for dogs to to be given away from their family. It's really none of my business, but since you posted it here - I can't help but say it is too bad that you didn't consider your lifestyle before taking on the responsibility of an innocent, loving creature. I hope you change your mind and keep him, he sounds very special.
