| Mixing grain free and grain foods ???? I have a few questions about mixing foods... After switching from a variety of different foods for a variety of different reasons my girls are now trying Wellness core grain free and so far it seems OK. but I have a few questions... 1. Wellness Core says it is for puppies over one year. Since Chloe is only 10 months should I not use it even though she hasn't been on puppy formula since 9 months old ? 2. My girls like the taste of the Wellness canned food , BUT , some of them contain grains ( Barley and flax) so is it O.K. to mix a grain free kibble with a non grain free canned food ? or should I stick with the grain free kibble and grain free canned options they have? 3. How about treats ? Do they have to get grain free treats as well ? I am just wondering if it's good or bad to mix the grain and grain free... Thanks

| It depends on why you're feeding grain-free. If you're feeding grain-free because your dog is allergic to certain grains, then obviously mixing the two is not beneficial. You would basically be defeating the purpose. However, if you're feeding grain-free because you generally believe it's healthier, higher quality food, I don't see why you couldn't mix the two. Just your preference, really.

| There is no reason that you can't unless 1. your dog is sensitive to grains or 2. you don't believe that they should have them because that isn't a natural dog diet. If your dog does well on it, it's okay. I would prefer to use pup food til 12 months but it is usually okay to switch before that.

| Yes , I am feeding grain free because I like the benefits not because of an allergy. I was originally thinking raw but dh is to freaked by that.... so I decided Grain free kibble , medallions , and a canned rotation diet would be a good substitute. They did have a big problem with itching and biting and rubbing their faces when they were on their original food ( bad foods) but that food contained corn, wheat , glutens, by products ,and many other bad things But when they were on NV Prairie kibble with good quality grains they didn't seem to have any reaction to it at all ( aside from alot of poo) So I don't think they have a problem with high quality grains . I want mainly a grain free meat based diet , but they really seem to like the Wellness canned that contains some grain. I just didn't want to upset their stomachs if I used both. The poo situation is still not toatally under control ( big piles) so I didn't want to add to that by upsetting their tummy!!!!

| I did see the Wellness core canned , but I was just looking for the canned to provide a little variety with different flavors thats why I looked to the mixed cans. The grain free canned by wellness may be the best choice....and I will just make them a sweet potato once in a while ( they love the sweetpotato and __ mixes by wellness) actually they love just about any canned food so I don't think I will have a problem there

| I feed grain free because I have one furbaby that has an allergy...as for treats it's really difficult to find treats that are grain free. There are some more expensive varities that are freeze dried fish that you can re-hydrate by placing in water. My girls really like green beans tho so that's a lot more affordable!

| Wellness actually has newer grain free jerky treats which my Snickers will do anything for. He got his commands and potty training is awesome with them. He loves the Venison. We also give Snick Sams Yams and their Berry Sweet Potato chews which are all grainfree and way better than rawhide!!
