I'm glad your friend's dog recovered from this, did the Greenie company take any responsibility? Did they pay for the surgery? I mean it seems like this would be so hard to prove even if an owner "knew" it were true. I suppose the vet could have the obstruction analyzed. I might support Greenies again if they would be more precise when answering questions. I was hoping through this thread, with a company representative responding, we would get a clear answer. Are their new products 100% digestible, and as far as I can figure, they aren't.

| I agree with all your thoughts on this topic, however, i have seen many things that dogs have digested that they shouldnt have....rocks, pebbles, chew toys, socks, rubber, tampons, razors, so if you really think about it, anything can be harmful....so i would just watch everything you give to yoru babies!

| I think in the end it comes down to knowing your dog and how they chew. If you have a dog that is a slow, careful chewer, chews like those are probably okay, but most dogs can't be trusted to not try to swallow huge chunks of things. Even if something is digestible, it can still become lodged in an animals throat if they try to swallow a big piece of it. You have to watch your dog when they're chewing anything, and be ready to take the chew away if needed. I don't give Penny Greenies-- she chews really aggressively and tries to immediately devour any of those digestible-style treats I give her. It's Bully Sticks all the way for us.

| I have heard both good and bad things about Greenies , but since the tiny Greenies ( the smallest they make ) say not for dogs under 5 lbs. I can't give them to Chloe anyway because she is to small to have them I have never given them to Sydney because alot of the info / opinions I read were most often negative or atleast very cautious about using them, so I just decided not to try it . There are many other chews out there and Sydney's teeth are amazingly white and strong.
