| YT 500 Club Member | It should also be noted that the meats and egg in the "raw" Honest Kitchen foods have actually been cooked to meet the standards for human-grade food consumption. I can't remember off-hand the temperature they cook the food to, but I read it in THK paper brochure.

So --- what have people added to THK? I haven't done any raw meat because I live in Korea and can't get any hormone-free, antibiotic-free, free-range, organic meat here. I live on a US Air Force base, so the meat we can buy comes from.... the US? Australia?, not Korea, but there are so many outbreaks and scares with the meat in Korea that I'm not risking it. I might give Meg some raw meat later in her life, but... for the meantime, I'm cooking it. As for bones, where do I start? My pup is 13 weeks old and 1.75 lbs. I don't want to give her a bone that is too big or could get lodged in her throat, etc. I don't think I can get bone meal in Korea.

As for bones, I am not big on the prey-model feeding so the raw meaty bones totally gross me out. I use USDA bully sticks.

| YT 500 Club Member | Okay, I like the idea of bully sticks. Of course I'd have to special order them from the States. Urgh. Sometimes living overseas is a real pain in the butt! You mix the Primal in with THK? Is the Primal a frozen raw, or is it something I could have shipped to Korea?

The Primal is frozen raw so I wouldn't imagine it could be shipped. But you should check out the website Complete Raw Diets for Dogs: Primal Formulas I really like the food and the company as well as thier mission.

I use preference and add Primal grind (turkey). I don't use the Primal mix because HK preference has everything in it except for the protein source. I picked up blue ridge beef (turkey grind) today instead of primal because I can get that cheaper here in NC. Also I am going to start giving my girls salmon oil made by wholistic pet.

I am completely comfortable with HK and Primal, as Primal was the only company I could find that offered grinds (meat, bone, and organ). Blue ridge beef is another company I have some in the freezer it will be another wk before the girls get to eat it.

| The only reason I feed it is because I feel 100% comfortable with the companies. I stopped feeding Nature's Variety due to that very fact- I did not trust the company nor feel good feeding it. Primal uses only antibiotic, horomone-free USDA sourced meat. Also, the protein sources are only fed grains from the USA- no stuff from China. The Honest Kitchen tests every batch for pathological bacteria so no worries about salmonella or e.coli. I am really happy with their diets at this time.

May I ask why ? Is it only the NV raw you were concerned about or the company as a whole? I just started feeding my girls NV kibble .They haven't had NV raw or NV canned yet (I was waiting to finish off the last can of Blue buffalo I have but I was planning on ordering NV canned) and I was just wondering if there was something I was missing about the company? I have heard not to use the Rabbit because it comes from China , is there something else or another reason? I don't want to do something that is bad for them.
