I'm so happy to see that so many of you are using The Honest Kitchen! I started Meg on "Embark" a couple weeks ago and she loves it. I think it's great to support a company like Honest Kitchen, too.

Also, I love that The Honest Kitchen will ship to APO (military overseas) addresses.

I never saw the 15% off discount, but the S&H from THK was outrageous.
That was why I searched the net for a better place to order from.

I am going to check it out, but I just had 40 lbs. delivered to me 1/13, so I am pretty much set for at least 8 months, if not more.

checked it out, FORCE is $10 more for each 10# box so I would, in essence, be paying $40 for S&H (since they have free delivery, it is in the price somewhere.) I am only paying $65 a box plus $17.14 for S&H.

We agree, we are trying to find the best price. So far I have found THE HONEST KITCHEN@DoggieFood
to have the best prices with S&H.

We use FORCE, TxGurl06 uses EMBARK.

I just got a delivery 1/13/09 and the expiration date is 12/09. So I know it is fresh and BTW, the box comes directly from THE HONEST KITCHEN.

It appears that I am just ordering from a "go-between" and the price is MUCH less.

The S&H from the HONEST KITCHEN website is twice as much as what I pay from alpha-nutrition doggiefood.com.


That is also why I recommended that website. And they usually give a 5-10% discount (use discount code THANKS)

Of course, if you feel better about ordering directly from
HONEST KITCHEN and paying $39.84 for S&H for 4-10# boxes @ $72 ea.,
when I only pay only $17.14 for 4- 10# boxes, @ $65 ea. continue to do so.


I was only making a suggestion, especially pertinent in these hard economic times.

i am thinking about going from homecooking to the honest kitchen for sammy. does anyone use this one, preference and add their own meats or veggies?
oh, and by what i am reading, it seems like this food has all the vitamins that the dogs need. am i correct or do i need to add more supplements?
thanks for any help at all.
i have suppliers right near my house within 4 miles, so getting it is not a problem.

The Preference has all the vitamins and minerals, you just have to make sure you are adding enough protein. I would definately add the protein in it's raw state and not cooked.

do you mean that i could add raw ground up turkey meat or already ground up beef to it?
what about chicken breasts?

The Honest Kitchen is dehydrated raw food. The complete diets are complete with protein, veggies, fruits, vitamins and minerals. The Preference is a dehyrdated raw base of veggies, fruits, vitamins and minerals, but no protein. Balance IT is strictly a vitamin/mineral supplement. It is not actually food.

If you got the Preference you would add any raw meat your little heart desires as well as cottage cheese, yogurt, egg, etc. I suppose you could add cooked meat to it as well but cooking it kinda goes against the whole *raw* thing
