♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | I think it's distilled water that you can give them that's supposed to help, BUT it has to be the distilled that is for drinking (like the Nursery kind) and not the distilled that is really only made to put in irons--I have no idea what the difference is, but apparently there is one! I changed Bella over to distilled awhile ago, and I noticed it lessen at first, but now we're back to the same ol' gunkies as before . Oh well!! (She still gets distilled water anyway since we suspect there may be something wrong with her liver. Btw, I started out giving her the regular distilled water that is really just for irons I guess (it didn't say "for drinking" or anything on it) because I didn't know the difference, but now I buy the kind with a pink label and a baby on the front....it says "purified" water I believe and it has a couple things added to it, fluoride for sure which is in tap water anyway.)

Warm water compresses and then I use a flea comb. He actually likes it when I do it. If it is really bad you will need to do this every day and not let it get to hard or built up.

| Maddie used to have eye gook like crazy! Someone one here suggested I add fish oil to her food. This has helped her 100% I can't remember the last time I had to clean out her eyes. I was doing this 2-3 times a day, cleaning with eye solution, and using drops. NOW...nothing. Definetly worth a try. |

| Lola gets terrible eye gunkies...I clean em' with warm water on a wash cloth but to no avail they're back the next day. Bunz(our lhaso apso/shih tzu) gets eye gunkies too, the vet said to switch him to bottled water and it would help, so we did, it did help but its hard to remind everyone that he cant have regular water so we gave up...his eye hair is cut short but he still gets gunkies

| I'd like to know that too! I think its like a 1/4 tsp a day. But I could be off. Seems like I read that for my maltese somewhere. but as she's aged she doesn't get eye gunkies. weird. |

| Oh gosh, Tobie gets these so bad too. You've already gotten lots of good advice but I wanted to add that the flea comb works best for me too. I use some eye drops stuff that I got from petsmart. I put a few drops on the eye boogers and rub it in until they soften and then use the flea comb to slowly slide them out.
