| Most breeders are aware that our yorkies have matured and all bones are "set"....that is when you want to spay/neuter, usually around 8 months old, and that is the age they will usually share with their new owners is the best time to have the baby spayed/neutered. There is some discussion about allowing little girls to have their first heat.....I have always encouraged my new owners to get either sex spayed/neutered around 8-10 months....catch the boys before they become sexually mature, with their bones set, around 8 months, and they will continue to squat to pee 99% of the time! Little girls are the same...if you can be sure you can keep her from being bred, you can wait until she has her first season, then 4-5 weeks later have her spayed. You just want the bones to be fully matured and set before spaying/neutering. |

| As soon as the first sign of heat shows. Usually six to seven months. |
