| Just spent $1000 on Roxy's dental cleaning.... I went to a Board Cert. Dental Vet. She had a cleaning and unfortunately had to have 5 teeth pulled, she had decidgerous that had to be drained as well. It has been a month and she has recovered very well.... Here is the low down on the dental products. Petzlife's active ingredient is 40 Proof (grain alcohol). He said the company really has claims that are just too good to be true....It would be great if there was a quick fix like that, but there simply isn't. Enzymatic tooth paste - These are not as strong has what the dog already has in its mouth, so these do not provide any 'better' than toothpaste without them. He said there is only 1 chemical that is strong enough to fight bacteria, tartar and plaque....Of course I can not remember 'exact' - it was something like Clorohydrogen (something along those lines). And it is very difficult to get that chemical effectively into a toothpaste. But he is working with a team of scientists and they almost have a finished product. He said the BEST defence is Daily Brushing and the spin brushes are even better. ~ I brush Roxy's teeth after each meal (2x a day) and it could be more, if she decided to eat poop again! |

The bottle is big. I have alot of dogs drinking it and it lasts me. The only discount I can give is ordering it on auto ship which will save you $2.65 a bottle. But it really does last me. And I have quite a few drinking

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I only give the pups hard food and chewie veggies and I usually brush their teeth once a week at bath time. Ooh and two or three times a week I put liquid dental cleaner in their water. I can't remember the name right now but I get it at petco..I have seen it also at most other pet stores.

| Yeah I'm about willing to do ANYTHING at this point to prevent them from having to be put under anesthesia again. It was really hard on them. |

♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | I think Chlorhexadine is an Anti-microbial, but maybe someone else can either support or refute that....?? I used a Chlorhexadine soap after a kitted I had long ago got ring worm. And I know some other YT'ers use it in different forms for different things....I think they have a shampoo form too?? |

The vet gave it to me to scrub the broken hair follicles where the kitten's ring worm was. He said the ringworm's eggs (maybe? I think that's right) get in the broken off hair and that they're the hardest part to get rid of. I had to do that every day plus use lamisil after dosing her with oral diflucan didn't work. It was not much fun.... So, apparently Chlorhexadine kills bacteria and fungi too. I think it basically kills whatever germs of any kind are there.

it is chlorhexedine as they use that to help figth gum disease and it is a gel and i will be using it - also there are chews with it in it. There is a mini tooth brush cet sells now as well - i will need to brush twice a day now as demi has periodontal disease We are having her teeth pulled and cleaning thursday with board certified and he did not like petzlife gel either as he stated there are no medical studies done on it. I will advise once i get all the info from him
