| my 6 month old has started eating her poop this is so embarrassing, but my dog will be 6 months old on July 8th and about 10 days ago I noticed she was eating her poop. And she eats other dogs, too. Have you ever heard of this before? what is wrong with her? |

| Give her a little "fresh" pineapple each day. It makes the poop smell and taste horrible to them. This will break the habit, but you need to keep it up for a week, then every other day for a week, two times a week, once a week then stop. By that time she will have no desire to eat poop again. |

| My Lola started to do the same thing about 6 months old. I was told everything even that I was not feeding her enough or the proper food. I just used the "leave it!" command really loud everytime I caught her doing it. She is now 1 year and seems to have just grown out of it. Every once in a while while sniffing she may start to go to another dogs poop but I just say Leave it really loud and she just leaves it along. I think she is just growing out of it. Good luck MorrisLaz |

| Winston does it too. Although he does it when we are not home so we can't use any commands to try to stop him. We bought these chewable tablets from Petsmart but they didn't work. And Winston doesn't get any human food so we haven't tried the pineapple thing. He is only 4 months old so I'm hoping that he'll grow out of it. I just asked our vet last night about this and he said eating his OWN poop can't harm him in anyway. It's completely habbit for a puppy and yeah it's gross but it doesn't hurt them. |

| I have caught Suzi doing that outside. She does not eat it, she grabs the poo and Runs around with it in her mouth It scares me to death because I believe she can get ill doing that with other animals poo! SHe does not do that with her own. She is only 4 months old, and hopefully she will stop doing that and figure out that poop is not a TOY

| it's great to hear from everyone with their solutions. I tell her to drop it when I see her doing it, but she just looks at me and runs away with it still in her mouth. I'm just glad to hear that she not the only one that does it. |

| Per "It's Me or the Dog". There are several reasons why a dog will eat it's poo. 1. Imitating mother keeping the den clean. 2. Bad breeder, last one to go from the litter. 3. Eats too fast, not digesting food. So it smells the same as when they ate it. 4. Poor diet. The pineapple is what the trainer gave to the dog who was "scarfing" down his food. She mixed dry & wet food and fed in small increments. When food was done, she then fed fresh pineapple. The dog quit eating his poo!!!

| thanks vegasrush..i might give the pineapple a try. I wonder if canned pineapple would work the same as fresh. of the choices you listed, i'm wondering if it's the eating too fast one. because for such a little thing she can eat like nobody's business. |

| Lola did eat her food very fast when we got her. We rescued her and she came from a place that had a few large dogs so she had to eat fast to get anything. Her pace of eating has slowed since she knows now there is no one else waiting to eat her food. That with getting a little older stopped her from the poop eating. morrislaz |

| My little one did the same thing, every time she put the poop in mouth I will tell her no and say nasty and take her straight in and brush her teeth (she hates that) after doing that for a week she stopped and when were out side and she see poop, I will say no nasty and she walks away. |

| forbid I got something from the vet called Forbid. I mix it in thier food all of them. It makes the poo taste terrible. I am still working with it and have researched it. I keep edible food down and clean the litter box as soon as something is placed there. They seem to be doing better and I have plenty of toys..as well...
