| My Yorkie is eating wood splinters/chips Hello Everyone! I was wondering if any of your babies eat wood or chew on sticks? Is this normal? Tinkerbell got into some wood last weekend and I have discovered wood in her stool. I thought we had resolved the problem since cleaning up the area around our wood burning stove. However, yesterday I found Tinkie's hiding place for stuff she isn't supposed to have. She had a little nest like place behind a bookshelf that consisted of: pennies, dried apples (I did let her have those for her teeth..ha ha) some plastic army guys, (son's toys) my sock, and what do you know...wood chips! She has been nawing on them all week! I thought I had puppy safed the entire house and I come upon this nest of stuff! She is absolutely a pill! Is she lacking in some kind of vitamin that she would want to chew on wood and eat it? Thank-you for helping out with this, I am at my wits end! Annie and Tinkie |

| Wow...I thought it was just my little maniac! Dolce does THE SAME EXACT THING. We had our whole kitchen gutted and redone and I constantly found her chewing on the leftover wood the contractors left, plus she also enjoyed trying to get the plaster that was stuck to the floor and the NAILS they left. Talk about a heart attack when I saw THAT in her mouth. I totally thought we cleaned everything up when our kitchen was completed, but i found her chewing on a nail this morning. I really have no idea how they find these things...she has me crazy sometimes. Does yours chew on leaves??? Dolce LOVES plants (we have the ones that are non-toxic all over our house) and she is forever jumping up (they are floor plants whose leaves are high for her) trying to get the leaves. I find little leaf pieces all over the house and one time me and my mother heard a loud bang in the den...she had jumped up, grabbed a hold of the leaf and pulled the whole pot down....dirt everywhere!!! I wanted to kill her!! lol Hopefully they will get over this loving wood stage...I mean how can it TASTE good to them?????

Aren't puppies gran! They seem to get into everything they aren't supposed to and they are so determined to do it too! ha ha Ahhh I know how frustrating they can be at times. I am a stay at home mom and I will tell you after a day with Tinkerbelle, I am absoutely exhausted! If she isn't attacking the cat, barking at the curtain, she is eating wood chips hidden in her secret hide-away! I am so glad I don't have plants!!! That sounds like it woud be one of her major targets after hearing your little one enjoys them so much!!! Good luck and hang in there....I think that might slow down a little with adulthood! I HOPE so :-) Annie and Tinkie

| Bentley LOVES to chew on the wood chips in our yard. He knows it is bad so he will grab a wood chip and run as far away from me as possible to chew on it. Luckily he knows what "no" means so he will drop it when I say "no". He's better now, but he used to do it all the time when we first got him. |

| Bo loves to chew on just about anything he can get (mostly me! ). He also is attracted to some wood mulch that is around the trees in our yard. A word of caution though. I never let him chew on the wood if I can help it. Wood is extremely hard on their stomach and could cause a tear either there or in their esophagus. I'm not a vet but my 7 year old schnauzer chewed wood when he was a puppy and vomited a lot of blood and has had a delicate stomach ever since and he is on a special diet because of it. I would definately keep them away from the wood if at all possible. |

| Yes, there must be a reason I'm missing a few little pieces off my coffee table leg! :P Yoda used to chew on everything he could, but we put Bitter Apple on lots of stuff, and he did realize that chewing on some things were bad. |

Our two love the door frames. I put hot sauce on them (the doors not my babies ) and they stopped. I also had to take their beds away from the frames here in the computer room. Was way too easy to lay there and chomp away.
