Bella and Diggy need a new food

I have been feeding Canidae All Life Stages for the past 2+ years with good success.

Good luck in finding a food that will work for Bella and Diggy!

never had any kind of problem. Hope your babies are themselves again

Oh, Paula! I'm so sorry to hear of this. Steroids, while sometimes necessary, can be so darn tough on these babies. Now, hearing of the gas and gurgling - I'm also concerned about what sounds like some intestinal damage. Sometimes what happens when bugs (giardia, clostridium, whatever) attack a dog's digestive tract is that they actually start to DIGEST the dog's intestinal lining. What follows is months of gas, gurgling, diarrhea, mucousy/bloody stools, presription diets, a gazillion blood tests, and usually diagnoses like ibd/ibs/colitis etcetera.

So, when you say "upset bellies' - besides the gas etc. - how are their stools? And, are they vomiting at all? Also, you don't want to homecook right?

(btw, personally - I'd stay away from the Lifes Abd. w/ the beet pulp in it, jmho )

Do you want to try raw medallions? Or, freeze dried raw w/ the goal of then moving to Raw Frozen?

I sent you a PM but i took to the vet at the first sign of trouble (thank god) they never got the poops or vomited...well Diggy vomitted once and his poop got loose and mucousy 1 time both are back to solid normal poop I think I got it before it got out of hand. Diggys belly was gurgling 1 night only and I took to vet right away. The gas has stopped i gave him some activia yogurt last night and started probiotics today and they are both happy playing back to what seems to be normal.

Diggy as you know Deiter gets upset belly really easy. And I feed them Innova and he does the best on it. I have tried so many and that one seems to work for him

My vote is for Innova too and or Welliness is very good. Its hard when they are sick. I am so sorry. I would, if possible stay away from Science Diet . I have heard vets get a kick back on it. (prescription) I don't really know. But that stuff is horrible. Looks like rubber. Hope those babies get well soon.

They are doing well...I started the probiotics yesterday from petsmart until i can get in some quality ones. Seems all the good ones are sold online. They were bouncing off walls last night making up for lost time being sick...It was actually good to see them beating each other up with such gusto Both have solid healthy stool and no gas no belly noises and bright eyes! Im very happy They also started Nature's Varierty kibble I went for less ingredients less allergies theory. They got the Duck and Oatmeal formula and I am introducing it slowly to keep belly upset to a minimum. Im going to research more on the raw Nature's Variety medallions and keeping that avenue open for the future. I am learning lots and hopefully with everyones help gonna keep them protected from this nasty bacteria FOR GOOD! thanks for the help and concern.

You know what Paula? Since they are doing well - I would scratch our last PM. I'm sending you those enzymes, so those might help too. So, I'm almost thinking you should save your money and not buy anything else online - and see how they do for a couple weeks. If they do well, great. And in the meantime, just keep an eye out for a better probiotic at a local health food store in your area when you have time - the one you're giving will be just fine in the interim. If after 2 weeks, there is still gas/digestive stuff going on - then maybe add additional support. I only say this bc I'd hate to see you add too much at once, if it's not necessary and they're improving. But, totally up to you. I know your vet bills must be atrocious lately.

Paula, I feel for you. I have Crohn's Disease and often have to be on steroids. I have to be so careful while I'm on them because they compromise my immune system. I take probiotics daily, and it really does help a lot. Activia yogurt is awesome! I used to take one that I bought at the health food store, recommended by my dr. Now he says if I'd rather eat the Activia, I can do that. I think it actually seems to work better! My tummy usually gurgles a lot all the time, but not since I've started the Probiotics.

I hope Bella and Diggy are feeling better soon!!

It's great to read about how great they are doing now!!! That food sounds like a really good one. I'm sure they're enjoying it. Yes, I agree the enzymes will help too

Paula, once their tummies have settled down, please let me know if you'd like to sample some of The Honest Kitchen freeze-dried raw. My girls have had such postive changes since being on this. They are grain-free and one is also gluten-free, both of which are great for allergies and sensitive tummies. I could meet you somewhere..........
