| Earliest age to neuter? Could someone tell me what the very earliest age would be that you could neuter a male dog? Scooter will be 14 weeks old when he has heart surgery. I hate to put him through anesthesia again for neutering and wondered if it is at all possible to have it done at the same time. I don't even know if it is even an option at this point as I still need to talk to the surgeon but I was just wondering.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I don't know if the vet would want to do both procedures or not but it is possible to neuter at that age. Reno was neutered at 14 weeks and has had no problems. Also, I know rescues and shelters are neutering even earlier, some as early as 6-8 weeks. Heart surgery? Poor baby and how scary for you!

| If I were you , I'd forget the neutering for now because the heart surgery will be very hard on him . Most vets will not do heart surgery with another surgery . |

| I doubt they will do both surgeries at once, but 14 weeks is completely fine for neutering normally. Shelters spay and neuter as early as 6-8 weeks without any adverse effects. If I got a male puppy I'd have him neutered as soon as I got him from the breeder between 12 and 16 weeks
