What do you do with a puppy tested for severe LS or other disease?

I know a lot of liver shunt puppies can live fairly symptom free if fed a proper diet. It does require a lot more work and just a little extra expense for their medication. Some liver shunts are not treatable by surgery but can be treated by diet alone. I would hate to have to make a decision as to whether a puppy should be euthanized but if I knew one was incurable and suffering then that is what I would do. If a puppy or dog is unable to eat and drink and is wasting then sometimes it is best to let them go. I know if I was dying I would not want my suffering to be prolonged. If a person has a dog with a defect that can be corrected through surgery and the owner does not have the means to pay for it then that person should contact a rescue group and turn the puppy over to them if the rescue group thinks the puppy can be saved. These rescue groups do wonderful work and save many puppies lives through the donations of caring dog lovers.
