Deformities What do you do with a puppy born with a birth defect/deformity that will restrict his quality of life? What do you do with a puppy tested for severe LS or other disease? When/where/how do you draw the line to have him put down? |
Oh wow girl... those are really hard questions... I don't know what to answer....:( |
hard chouces I would talk with vet then make my decision |
I'm sorry I can't help you. I think those are the questions people should ask themselves before they breed animals. |
Personally I could not put an animal down unless it could not possibly have a good life. I would move heaven and earth to do whatever it too to make my puppy have a happy life. I have Rusty that is a Chi/Pom mix that we call our million dollar baby. The breeder would have put him down as he was born with PDA. We spent over 3000.00 8 years ago to have open heart surgery and he is a happy guy going on ten yrs old. We gave up vacations for a year to fix him and I would do it again in a minute. I cannot imagine not taking responsibility for an health issue any of my puppies have. If one was born deformed I would keep it and love it and take care of it for as long as it lived......UNLESS the vet said it would be more humane to put it down:( |

4 Attachment(s) My baby Addaley was born with a congenital defect. She was born without the full development of her front leg/paw. As soon as I saw her I knew I had to have her. The vet checked her out and said that everything else sounded good, heart, lungs, etc...so we decided to bring her home with us. We just wanted to give her a good home. :) She is now 7 months old and full of energy...even though she will never walk on all 4 paws she doesn't act like anything is wrong with her. Instead I think that has made her stronger, she has a very strong personality. She just looks like she is holding up her right paw all the time. She is such a great puppy! I love her to pieces!! |

Just look at that face - she is precious! :) |
Thank God you found her. She is cute. When a dog has to have its leg removed, they stii do fine on three. That is one lucky furbaby, and you are one lucky mommy:) |
