| Sentinel? I am thinking of switching to Sentinel. Like it/hate it? Any down side to it? Thanks!

| It is Interceptor for heartworms and Program for fleas (doesn't kill them but makes it so they can't reproduce...Program doesn't have side effects). It's a great drug.

| Do you like Program? I hate using Frontline.

| I don't use any of it but yes, I like Program. The only problem is, it doesn't actually kill fleas. Any drug with no side effects is good with me.

Would you use something in conjunction with the Sentinel for fleas?

| Yeah I like the sound of it! Where do you order from? I'm afraid to order anything like that online. But I know it should be okay. I am too chicken to buy my Heartguard online... And since I'm out of state for college, I had to beg a vet here to sell it to me. Since spring break is next week, I'll be home and I am going to stock up on a couple of things anyways.

The only reason I use heartworm preventative is because I don't have a choice. If I was using Program and wanted to give another chemical, I'd probably give Advantage (not Advantix). Or I would skip the Sentinel and give Interceptor for heartworm and Frontline Plus for fleas. I think Program and Dawn dish soap is the best choice for fleas if your dogs don't get them bad.

You could try entirelypets.com. I don't think it is the best idea to buy heartworm med on but I would trust entirelypets.com. Their drugs are EPA and FDA approved. I get Ellie's heartworm preventative from her vet.

| Just another view on it for you....I use Sentinel on both my babies. (Have ever since the day I've had them), and here in SC, fleas are TERRIBLE, and if I even go longer than a month on the flea protection, Kobi will get fleas. It's like clockwork. And so while I personally wish I didn't HAVE to use Frontline Plus, I DO! It's necessary! Sentinel may kill some stuff, and granted when I've seen fleas it's been one or two...never been infested. But anyway...jmo

| Yeah. I won't buy it from anywhere but the vet either. The one here tried to sell me the generic, and I wouldn't buy it. I said NO! I want the real stuff. Its $6 more, they are so sensitive to things, and I don't want anything different. He looked at me like I was nuts. Maybe I'm paranoid. Then what do you use for fleas? I would love to not have to use anything, but my parents live on a farm and we spend ALOT of time there. So fleas happen.

If I had to use something it would be Program and Dawn dish soap but Ellie doesn't spend a lot of time outside, so they are usually a non-issue for us. If I had to pick a chemical it might be Frontline (or possible Advantage) but definately not long-term. All of these chemicals are just too dangerous.

| I use Sentinel for Sissy and Angel. I hate the topical flea protections - they stink terribly. I've never had an issue with fleas on either of them, even while traveling to places that have them. The only downside I see is the cost.

Luv my 7 Furkids Donating Member | I use sentinal. On all of them. Nothing for fleas unless on the rare occasion we go camping and they pick one up. I do have a pest control spray my yard and house twice a year for spiders, fleas, and ants. (Im scared to death of spiders), so we dont have much problems with fleas. |

| I got Sentinel from the vet for Izzie and tomorrow she goes for her second set of shots, so I probably buy another dose. I use Advantage on Tobey and my cats it works too.. I have always used that, Frontline I don't like because Tobey always seem to have fleas and this was back home in NY..
