What is the question?

| You already did give your reasoning...I just didn't see it in THIS thread. I just think that generally it is a bit of a double standard is all. It seems to me like some are only willing to pull their support when it's convenient, but still show support for the company in other ways. Yet they still live by the 'well I did my part' bit. Again...this is all just my own opinion...(I think I am still entitled to that?) Last edited by BamaFan121s; 03-05-2008 at 09:06 AM. |

I don't think not replying indicates an avoidance - it may just indicate that were other things more important (to others) that took priority and/or the point you were trying to make didn't come through all the way (making it confusing to reply appropriately).

Let me see if I can make it more general... Generally speaking, I find it odd that many times people (in general) claim that they do not support Iams/Eukanuba by not buying their food and being critical of those who do or encouraging others not to, yet turn around and support them in a million other, different ways. As if they are only willing to take a stand if it's not interfering too much. Seems a little hypocritical to me. Comments? Thoughts? Last edited by BamaFan121s; 03-05-2008 at 09:13 AM. | |

| Maybe I should start a new topic and let that be the ONLY focus, so as not be overshadowed by the more important issues... I could call it "I support Iams/Eukanuba" and list all the reasons how... |

Beyond that though, there are a lot of kindly people out there who just don't know better - so, it'd even be helpful to say "if you're not going to support xyz bc of what they did, then please also remember to not support abc as they are also part of xyz". Educate and share information. On the other hand - take me for the example. I'm a pescetarian (eat fish, not meat), but my dogs eat meat, my hubby does, I'll even cook meat for others....bc 1) it's not my place to force my beliefs on others and 2) I can feel *good* about doing something (dang it!) toward not throwing my money at slaughterhouses. I look for cruelty free, free range, cage free products - I do *what I can*. What else can I do? So, we could "judge" me - as in "well, who the heck is she - why is she not vegan then? Is there any leather in her house? Is there gelatin, which is made from cow hooves, in her supplements??" - I mean, if that's who we were as people, there would be NO reason to do *anything* - if we were judged that everything we do is "just too small". That's what I think. Do big things when you can, do small things when you can - and be proud of it either way.

I see your point. I like the comparison it's kind of like if someone was protesting a slaughterhouse and preaching to me I should do that same, all the while they are wearing a leather coat eating a hamburger...Kind of like, "I don't support them in this way, but I do support them in that way." I guess maybe those instances should be brought to light too... I.e. Buying P&G products, supporting AKC events sponsored by Eukanuba either by participation, attending or even watching them... I guess when it comes down to it, it really IS about only not supporting them so long as it doesn't interfere w/ ones life and everyday comforts. And, I agree, you should point the inconsistencies out, bc sometimes folks just aren't aware of them. They may not appreciate you pointing them out - but if done in the spirit of education and diplomacy - who can argue with that, ya know? Some of my choices do interfere w/ my every day comforts - but that's me - and I'm okay with those "losses". And some people will only make choices that don't interfere w/ their creature comforts - and I have to respect that too. Don't always like it, but respect it. Ahhhh, I think we've come to some nice neutral ground here.....are ya *feelin'* it???
