last time i took her to a vet, she was healthy as a bug. she LOVES to eat. and is VERY ENERGETIC, she is way more active then my 2 year old gussy. She seems healthy to me. i will weigh her today and see if she gained anything this past week,she seems like she got long tho.. hehe

I would say she should be gaining more than that. You never know about weight when I got lily at 8 weeks she , 2 weeks ago she weighted in at 5.0Lb.

I had to read that a couple of times - I think she is saying she gained one ounce since last week????????????? Hopefully.

no she has gained 1 once (as of last wednesday) since i got her. i am going to weigh her today.. i think she got longer.. dont get me wrong.. she is healthy as a bug.

Also.. maybe the weighing thing at Banfield is wrong.. or something wrong with it.. because i have to weigh her like 5 times and see which weight comes up more for me to determine which one is right...

And you have had her for 5 weeks? That doesnt sound good. esp. if she eating so much like you say.

A truly reputable breeder would not give two different prices for limited and full. If the dog is pet quality, it will be sold as pet quality with limited registration...

I'd be really concerned with her weight. I know that you say she's healthy but seriously, you should take her to a vet and get some bloodwork done...like livershunt. Good luck!

I agree. She need to have a bile acids test done. Unfortunately, Yorkies are thirty-six times as likely to have a liver shunt than all other breeds combined.

My scale(digital only weighs .5 and the full pound..) I just know the big scales at the vets weigh in 10th, not 16ths, which makes a difference..on one of those scales, 2.5 would be 2 1/2 and on like a baby scale, 2.8 would be 2 1/2 pounds

Every scale is different!!.... I know what you mean..... but I have a scale that I bought from pet edge that I use... and it works great.

I also want to tell you that I think it is great that you are NOT jumping into breeding so quickly without asking LOTS of questions. There is so much involved with Yorkies and some of the things that are hereditary should be considered (making sure that there isn't any of these probs in the family tree). (...Please read about liver shunt, and luxating patellas)
It sounds like your two furbutts are pretty special......... we would LOVE to see pictures of them!!

I AM SO GLADE YOU WROTE THAT TOO ME!!! you just made me feel really better.

they are really special to me. My fiance and i have been having dreams about my little boy dieing or getting lost and would have tearing eyes. they are my babies and would hate anything that would happen to them. i will be getting my baby girl tested for the livershunt. but as far as that, i truly believe in my heart she is healthy. forsure i want to make sure that they are healthy before i breed her, and most important her size..

Who cares if it was 2lbs 8oz or 2.8lbs (2lbs 12.8oz)....4.8oz is not that big of a difference...just a little over 1/4lb.
