| Heartguard Plus question My Moxie is a little over 2lbs. and my Vet gave me Heartguard Plus chewables for him. My question is why would I give my 2 lb. dog the same dose that a 25 lb dog would take? Would I give a human baby the same dose as I would an adult...no way! Then why should I give my 2lb Moxie a 25lb. dose??? What is everyone else doing? Do you give the whole chewable? I'm confused. I hate to do something that is going to shorten his life because of liver or other organ problems down the road caused by over medicating. Just look at all the scary stuff on vaccines that's just now being talked about. Help! Moxie's Mom |

| Yup...it is supposed to be highly palatable but he doesn't liek it..trick is to get half a slice of cheese and mush it around the pill..he will eat it right up!!!

We got Interceptor (for 2 - 10 lb dogs) too for both Romeo and Juliette. Romeo is 2 lbs 12 oz and Juliette is almost 5. I know how you feel because I was a little worried giving it to Romeo since he is half of Juliette's size, but he did just fine and I didn't notice anything at all. Sorry, I don't know about the Heartguard Plus one.

| I prefer Interceptor to Heartgard. Both of my dogs and my sister's dog were briefly on Heartgard and none of them did well on it. They all would puke after taking it. So we switched over to Interceptor and I haven't had any problems with it at all.. and it's cheaper than Heartgard and also protects against more nasties than Heartgard.

| Mojo has been taking Heargard plus chewables for over a year and he loves it. He thinks it is a treat and gets all excited when he sees he is getting one! Mojo has never tested positive for worms or hearworms so i am very pleased with this medication. As per the dosage, maybe you can offer half the tablet, but only if your vet okays it...i know for a fact that all these medications have to be approved by EPA and also the age and amount, that is why in some countries these recomendations vary. Heartgard blue, which is for small breeds, covers from 1-25lbs!

| Interceptor My vet said that because of the tropical climate that we live in -Miramar, Florida that it was a better protection then the heart guard plus a smaller pill for a small dog to eat. Matise eats them just fine. and the dose is for 2-10 lb. dogs. |
